The execution of our float with our large group was great. Weather was unbeatable and the float was relaxing. Being able to coordinate the shuttle to pick us up and take us back where we were staying made everything very smooth day of. The drivers were kind! When it came to the logistics before the event, it was a little chaotic because we were trying to figure out the details the night before. I know some things may need to be done then, I just think when I was touching base leading up to the event that we could have handled more prior. Overall, very happy with the experience.
I wanted to craft a review for Roanoke Mountain Adventures for those who may be from out of town searching for a moment of nature while visiting Roanoke, VA. The Roanoke Mountain Adventures website is easy to use, offers a scheduled booking & allows you to sign your waiver in advance. The tubes offer a bottom. While the bottom doesn’t necessarily keep you dry, it does protect you from the rocks during portions of the river that are low. I would encourage you to arrive extra early because there is no signage or Roanoke Mountain Adventure signage or branding at the public park. You just have to look for a van carrying a trailer full of tubes. There wasn’t a list or roll call of participants & we left four minutes earlier than the scheduled time, so I would imagine if we had not been present - the van would have departed without us. If they offer you a paddle - take it! The river gets low & parts are very slow. Also, listen very carefully to where to exit the river - again , there is no signage or staff to guide you at the exit of the river, you had to have listened to the staff while taking the transport van to the drop off spot/ river entry. Tips: grab an extra tube for your cooler/snacks. Tie it to your tube. Also, since you aren’t visiting the storefront & meeting at a park, be sure to bring everything you need as you can’t purchase any last minute supplies.
Our guide, Terry, was awesome. He made sure we got on the river on time on a hot day, and gave us all the resources to make sure our trip was as enjoyable as possible!

It was a very relaxing float down the Roanoke River. The gentleman that drove us was very kind and thorough in the instructions. We had a nice time.
Great experience. Fun, refreshing, and relaxing. Just make sure you protect your car’s key fob because that including anything else you bring with you will get wet. I’ll be bringing a small waterproof bag next time.
It was a great time on the river with family and friends! Would definitely recommend!! Great communication and reminders before tubing!
The guy that informed us was very nice. The tubes were in great shape. Took a small cooler with us. Plenty of time to eat a sandwich if you pack one etc. The water was fairly low so it was a lot of getting up to get over rocks. But there were fairly long stretches of deeper water so you can relax. We had a good time. I’d say be careful at the end, that last drop although not huge, it’s easy to flip over.
Just started tubing with Roanoke Mountain Adventures this summer. A great experience and people. Only wish it lasted longer :-)
