Nyungwe se encuentra en el suroeste, cubriendo un área de 1016 km a través de las majestuosas colinas del sureste de Ruanda, el Parque Nacional Nyungwe es el bosque lluvioso montañoso más grande del centro y este de África y uno de los más antiguos, que se remonta a antes de la Edad de Hielo. El bosque admite más de 1025 especies de plantas y más de 500 especies de orquídeas y lobelias gigantes. Nyungwe también tiene 13 especies de primates; Estos incluyen chimpancés y los monos colobo angoleños en blanco y negro. También es el hogar de especies habituadas como los Mangabeys y los Blue Monkeys. El bosque de Nyungwe tiene su propio dosel. Y es el único dosel en el este de África.

El Museo Etnográfico, anteriormente el Museo Nacional de Ruanda, es el museo nacional de Ruanda. Se encuentra ubicado en Butare. Fue construido con la ayuda del gobierno belga. Se inauguró en 1989 y es una buena fuente de información sobre la historia cultural del país y la región.
En la antigua Ruanda, Nyanza era el palacio del reino de Ruanda. Sirvió como el último hogar de los últimos reyes de Ruanda. Los edificios de un famoso Rey Mutara III Rudahigwa aún se mantienen y sirven como Museo del Palacio Real y Museos de la Galería de Arte respectivamente.

Very expensive for what you get. Pick uptime was changed by 2 hrs with less than 24 hrs notice. Had to ask for lunch. No one mentioned it. Water was offered once before hike and then never again. Driver saw us buying our own water but never offered to pay for it. On rode back driver stopped to get himself a coke, but never offered us one or the chance to buy our own. Made another stop to pick up his own produce. Excursion said it would be about 9,5 hours. Actually took around 12.5 hours. We’re supposed to see. 2 museiums. But didn’t see any. Very poor representation in Viator app. Not a good experience!! Talk with provider with no resolution 😢😢
Dear Diane, First of all, take time to check on our previous reviews; they are more than 30. We try our best to be professional and offer a unique service to our clients. We saw your complaints one hour before you arrived in Kigali. Our guest manager called you to meet and see how we could understand why you were not satisfied, but you refused to pick up our phone call and also did not respond to our WhatsApp text until night. We are reading the chat you had with our office on your way back from the canopy walkway adventure in Nyungwe National Park, and it is completely different from your review now. Our driver said, " You had a misunderstanding with your friend until you stopped him at Stafford coffee shop to buy beer; he stopped and allowed you to drink all along the trip (he was patient enough, otherwise beer is not allowed in the car, just to keep the trip safe). We shared with you guys the details about the trip so that you can be prepared for the adventure, logistics, and dressing (this is important information that we always share with our clients, one day before the activity day). Probably, you didn’t read the tour details properly; specifically, under (What's not included), everything is clear. Two days back, you were complaining that we didn’t give you lunch, yet we bought it for you guys, and we have payment receipts. Today, you are writing about the water, which we also offered, though you had your own bottles, saying you are okay with the water you brought from the hotel. Dear Diane, based on the nature of this tour, we always prefer to leave Kigali (pick-up location) at 5:00 AM to make the activity on time and return to Kigali. You wanted to have your lunch on your arrival to the Nyungwe forest, it was at 9:00 AM (you should have communicated, the coffee shop was already opened and the driver could make a single order and you get the food in 20 minutes, did you ask this?), we normally offer lunch to our clients on their way back from the activity, exactly at 12:00 pm, and this is what we did for you guys. Benoit told us you were friendly and made the trip user-friendly (he can't believe you can have such comments/review). Dear Diane, our office was proud to meet and serve you guys the canopy walkway adventure, and Benoit can confirm your satisfaction from your comparison you made, saying that you have been to Tanzania and Kenya and you did not enjoy it like you were in Rwanda. Our guide Darius gave us a lot of useful information to make the long hours travel faster. We were enchanted by the hike in the forest and on the canopy suspension bridges (with another local guide). We also had the chance to meet many monkeys! Our only regret is not being able to visit the King’s Palace due to unforeseen events during the day.

Benoit was a great driver and Daniel was an amazing guide at the park. The forest is beautiful. However, for those who want some adventure, the Canopy trail is pretty short and easy, so I would recommend the pink trail (with the mahogany trees), which was WAY more interesting to me.

Long day but worth it with excellent guide. It’s an unavoidable long day to travel to the canopy, walk and back from Kigali. But the guide made it work, and was good company and knowledgeable. Definitely a worth while experience and highly recommended.

Darius is an incredible tour guide - full of laughter and knowledge making this trip even more breathtaking! Although it was an early start, the morning drive to the forest was blissful, and the canopy experience was challenging yet rewarding. I would 100% recommend booking this tour if you want to experience the natural side of Rwanda and have fun with the best tour guide I have ever had!

I had a very good experience with Usalama Tours. My driver had to pick me up very early as it was a long drive from Kigali to the forest and we had to be back by evening, but he was great company all along the way, letting me doze off a little at first and then engaging in pleasant conversation when I woke again, pointing out some noteworthy sights on our journey and gamely stopping whenever I asked to take pictures. The canopy walk itself was well worth the drive: although the hike was only 90 minutes or so in total, it provided beautiful, panoramic views of the rain forest below and around us, and our tour guide was knowledgeable and charming. I didn't see any monkeys from the suspension bridge, but there was no shortage of them along the road leading in and out of the park and ample opportunities for photos. The entire experience felt very professional and relaxed, would definitely recommend

Do not miss an opportunity to take this amazing Canopy Walk. Unfortunately my husband was under the weather and couldn’t join me. It was beautiful. I was a bit nervous and wanted to challenge myself and am so happy I did. To say that Darius went out of his way to help me make this happen is an understatement. He knew I was nervous and was very encouraging. We had a lot of driving time which allowed for many conversations regarding Rwanda. He answered all of my questions regarding history, culture, daily life etc. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
