Itinerary
VR tour will take you to the church of St. Krševan - eng. Chrysogonus. It was male Benedictine's monastery church built in 1175. This is one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches you will ever see, well preserved on the outside. It is closed for public and often forgotten by tourists, but you will have the unique opportunity to see monastery courtyard and to visit the interior using VR glasses.
You will see interior of the church of St. Simeon and the biggest city's treasure - silver pleated Ghotic chest for the relics of St. Simeon, favorite patron saint to this day.
Here you will learn more about construction of the Roman gates that were entrance into the antique city of Zadar. Afterwards, you will see where was the entrance to the Medieval city of Zadar and finally, you will see the construction of the Venetian walls.
First you will visit the remains of the Roman Forum within Zadar's old town. It was the biggest Forum built in Croatia, built from 1st until 3rd century and now it is visable only as ruins. With VR glasses you will see the construction of the Forum looking from the air, from hot-air balloon while an audio guide will introduce you to the intreresting facts about it. Besides that, you will enter the Forum and you will be standing in the very center of it, surrounded by recreated buildings and statues. At the end you will be standing in front of the temple dedicated to Jupiter, Juno and Minerva dating from the 1st century BC. You will hear the story about ancient religious rituals. When the VR visual ends, you will take off the VR glasses and you will be amazed to learn that some parts of the construction of the Forum are still being present at their original place even after 2000 years of history.
This is another visual of the bombing in WW II and you will be looking at Zadar's old town as if you are standing at the top of the St. Anastasia's bell tower. You will see air attack and bombing of the city. There will be buildings burning and crashing due to airplanes dropping bombs. At the end you will see a map showing heavily damaged areas of the city, that do not exist anymore.
St. Anastasia's cathedral was built in the 12th and 13th century and it is the largest cathedral in Dalmatia region. St. Anastasia is one of the saint protectors of the city and her relics lay inside the cathedral. With our VR glasses you will be able to visit the cathedral, hear the story of st. Anastasia and take a look inside the baptistery and sacristy, places that are closed for public.
You will visit the location of the former city market where people used to sell fish, vegetables, fruits and other products. Today's open city market lies at the opposite side of the city because former city market was destroyed during the bombing in WW II. People usually do not know that Zadar was heavily damaged in those bombings and with VR glasses you will be able to see residential buildings and a post office that doesn't exist anymore. Furthermore, you will witness aeroplanes dropping bombs on the city.
At Zadar's sea promenade you will visit Greeting to the Sun and Sea Organ, built in 2005. With VR glases you will see how that location looked back in time, in 13th century to be more precise. Once again, you will be standing in the hot-air-balloon looking at the Crusaders attacking Zadar from the sea and you will hear the background story of Crusaders attacking Zadar, which was a Catholic city.

Very friendly, very good guide speaking very good English. Visit the historic heart with VR glasses. Very good knowledge of the history of the city and the country. Small negative: the VR software is starting to date.
A new and fun experience for me who have never before tried VR at all. Committed and knowledgeable guide, we got answers to all our "tourist" questions. Enough stops. Culturally interesting. Very affordable experience. Easy to book, highly recommended.
A lovely unusual historical tour. Yelena was very friendly and knowledgeable about Zadar. There was just the two of us on the tour but we had a fab time. Highly recommend this tour.
Comic book CGI (Lego land) and bizarre commentary on strongly accented English. Old outdated glitchy headsets with incomplete tour video.
Better than anticipated! We like walking tours to get familiar with the area, learn historical details- this tour went above and beyond! Walking streets that were built more than 2 thousand years ago was accompanied with historical perspective, interesting stories and more! Virtual reality element allows to explore otherwise unacceptable buildings, peek at architectual details, let's you look at the area from above, understand the transformations though centuries of history. Wish we had our teens with us- they would have loved the VR tour as well!
Thank you so much for such a beautiful feedback, we really appreciate when we have an information whether you like it or not so we can provide even a better service next time. We are really glad that we had the opportunity to provide you a tour that you liked it. I hope we will see you and your teens anytime soon.
Great experience, completely new and unique way to do a tour of the ancient city! Love it and would definitely recommend!
Dear Yana, thank you for booking VR tour and for posting such nice review. It was a pleasure taking you through the city!
A new way to do a tour of the city! We had never tried VR before, and the guide made it easy to understand how to use the headsets. She was also great at telling us new information whilst we walked from location to location. You only put the headsets on whilst sitting at a venue, so don't worry about walking around or bumping into things! As someone who doesn't know a lot about history, I would never have been able to envision how the Roman Forum in Zadar once looked if I had not done this tour. Now that I have, I can appreciate the ruins for what they once were! I fully recommend - even for just adult groups, we were aged 23-57 and everyone loved it.
Hello! Thank you for taking time to write such detailed review! We are glad that you booked VR tour and that you had great time!
What are unique and fun tour! The owner, Veronika, is obviously passionate about all the great material she and her husband have put together for this tour. You get to see the actual spots but then you get to see them during various time periods through the VR glasses, in 3-D surround as if you are really there. And you also get to “see” places that are not open to the public. So much more fun than the average walking tour. And great for kids too. Everything is clean and sanitary. They give you pads that line the goggles that are fresh and clean. They have many different languages available. I learned a lot!
Hi! Thank you for taking the VR tour and for posting such great review! I enjoyed guiding you through the city and I am glad to hear that you enjoyed so much! Hope to see you again in Zadar sometime.
A novel way to understand how parts of the town developed over the years and centuries. The guide was very in tune with the VR devices if we misinterpreted her instructions so avoiding any unnecessary breaks.
Hello Ian, thank you for posting this nice review. I am glad to hear that you had great time on the VR tour!
Because we were only the two of us participating the tour it felt like a private one. The guide was friendly and told us much more about the city than just the voice from the tape. Two hours went fast. Quality of the vr was good. Only minus was that you can hear voice from others glases ... so recommend to stand a littlebit outside of the group.
Hello Auri, thank you for booking VR tour. We are glad to hear that you had great time on the tour.
