Itinerary
Embark on a full-day adventure of Yellowstone's Lower Loop, where geothermal wonders and iconic wildlife meet breathtaking scenery. This loop covers many of the park’s most famous highlights, making it ideal for first-time visitors and photographers alike. Every tour is tailored by our expert guides but these are some of the stops that may be included in a typical day in the park....
Old Faithful Geyser – Witness the world’s most famous geyser erupt on schedule, surrounded by steaming vents and bubbling hot springs. Old Faithful is Yellowstone’s most iconic geothermal feature — and for good reason. Erupting approximately every 60 to 90 minutes, it shoots steaming water up to 180 feet in the air, thrilling visitors with its power and predictability. Surrounded by the vibrant Upper Geyser Basin, Old Faithful is more than a natural spectacle — it’s a symbol of the park itself.
The Grand Prismatic Spring is Yellowstone’s most colorful and visually striking hot spring — and the largest in the United States. Measuring over 370 feet wide, this natural wonder dazzles with intense bands of blue, green, yellow, orange, and red, created by heat-loving microorganisms that thrive in its mineral-rich waters. From the boardwalk, you can feel the steam rise as you walk beside surreal colors, It’s a sight you’ll never forget — and a highlight of any Yellowstone tour.
Fountain Paint Pot & Geyser Basins – Walk through a surreal landscape of mud pots, fumaroles, and erupting geysers. Fountain Paint Pots offer a fascinating look at the park’s diverse geothermal activity — all in one compact, easy-to-walk area. Here, you’ll see bubbling mud pots, steaming fumaroles, boiling hot springs, and small erupting geysers, all within a short loop trail. The mud pots, colored by iron oxides, bubble and blurp like a simmering cauldron — especially active in spring when they’re at their muddiest. The combination of sounds, smells, and colors makes this a truly multi-sensory experience and a favorite stop for geology lovers and curious explorers alike.
Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone – Marvel at dramatic waterfalls plunging into the colorful canyon carved by the Yellowstone River. the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone is a breathtaking natural masterpiece. This dramatic canyon stretches over 20 miles long, plunging up to 1,200 feet deep, with walls painted in striking shades of yellow, orange, and red — the very colors that gave Yellowstone its name. The canyon is home to two spectacular waterfalls: Upper Falls – A thundering 109-foot drop. Lower Falls – A jaw-dropping 308-foot cascade, nearly twice the height of Niagara Falls. From scenic viewpoints like Artist Point, Lookout Point, and Inspiration Point, visitors are treated to some of the most iconic and photographed landscapes in the park.
Yellowstone Lake – Enjoy the tranquil beauty of the park’s largest body of water, nestled at 7,733 feet above sea level covering over 130 square miles. Surrounded by mountains and forests, its deep blue waters offer a peaceful contrast to the park’s geysers and hot springs. But don’t let its calm surface fool you — beneath the lake lies a dynamic geothermal system, with hot springs, fumaroles, and even underwater geysers! In summer, the lake is a haven for wildlife, with chances to see otters, eagles, elk, and grizzly bears along its shores.
Hayden Valley – Once a glacial lake bed, this vast, open landscape of rolling meadows and winding river bends is now a prime location for wildlife viewing. At dawn and dusk, you may spot herds of bison, elk, grizzly bears, wolves, and a variety of birds of prey, including bald eagles. The Yellowstone River meanders through the valley, creating ideal habitat for animals and perfect photo opportunities for visitors.

Michael was an amazing guide - highly interactive, extremely knowledgeable, and clearly committed to providing an exceptional experience and provided an absolutely world-class experience His knowledge of Yellowstone National Park, its geothermal features, geology, wildlife, and environment was outstanding. As I had previously visited the park, he made a real effort to tailor the tour so that I experienced places, scenery, and wildlife encounters that I had not seen before; experiences I hadn't encountered on my last trip He ensured we saw a wide variety of wildlife and did his best to point out the major wildlife that live within the park. He also gave excellent explanations about Yellowstone's formation, geological changes, geothermal activity, and unique natural environment. He did a brilliant job tracking down an abundance of varied wildlife, highlighting the main ones The day was extremely well organised, and I felt that nothing important was missed. The scenery was spectacular, the wildlife viewing was excellent, and the commentary added real depth to the experience. I highly recommend this tour and its excellent guide. I enjoyed every minute of the day and would recommend it to anyone looking for a comprehensive overview of Yellowstone in a limited time.
Thank you so much for this incredible and detailed review! We’re thrilled to hear you had such a world-class experience with Michael. It’s especially great to hear how he was able to tailor the day to build on your previous visit—finding new areas, new perspectives, and fresh wildlife encounters is something our guides take real pride in. His deep knowledge of Yellowstone’s geothermal features, geology, wildlife, and overall ecosystem really helps bring the park to life, and we’re glad that added meaningful depth to your experience. We also appreciate your kind words about the organization of the day and the variety of wildlife sightings. We’ll be sure to pass this along to Michael—he’ll really appreciate hearing it. Thank you again for the strong recommendation, and we hope to see you back for another adventure in the parks with Grizzly Country Wildlife Adventures
One day tour of the south loop of Yellowstone taking in the main sights and doing some wildlife spotting as well Started off at our hotel in Teton Village at 7am and returned around 7pm. Long day but well worth it Michelle was a superb guide, explaining the history, scenery and wildlife of the park. And taking us to some unexpected spots along the way The company provided a delicious picnic lunch that we ate in a beautiful spot. Our hotel had failed to communicate gluten free requirements but the tour company went out of their way to get us some gf food along the way. Thank you Very highly recommended
Our family did the Yellowstone Park all day trip with Michelle as our tour guide. She is absolutely AMAZING! We had the best day with her. She is very knowledgeable, knows all the best spots to take you to, friendly, funny, and just an awesome tour guide. I would highly recommend Michelle if you want to have a wonderful Yellowstone Park experience. Thanks again for a fantastic day! Julie, Chad, & the boys
What a great day! Our tour guide Michael was excellent. He was so knowledgeable and kept us entertained all day. When we encountered unexpected back ups, he knew alternate routes and kept us moving. Our picnic lunch by the river was delicious and we stopped several times for animal sightings, family pictures and arrived in time for one of Old Faithful’s eruptions. I would highly recommend Grizzly Country for this Yellowstone private tour.
It was an amazing experience. Michael was so knowable about the Park. If I have the opportunity to go again, I will request Michael as my guide.
We had a great tour of Yellowstone Lower Loop with Michelle! She was so nice and welcoming and answered all my questions. We talked about (and saw) Bison and Elk and how brucellosis is really carried in the Elk. We also saw moose, a black bear, and 1063 Bonita with her 3 cubs. We even got video of the cubs playing! Michelle also taught us about the geology of Yellowstone and the different types of features (mud pots, springs, geyser, and funeroles), and how the plate has been moving over the North American plate. We had a great time and I could recommend Michelle enough, she was the best!!!
Grizzly Country Wildlife Adventures certainly exceeded my expectations. We did a 12 hour private tour of the lower Loop of Yellowstone. While the trip was expensive, it was worth the money because there is no way we could have navigated and seen so many things in a 12 hour period without the help. The information alone from Steve, our wonderful tour guide, was well worth it. From the moment I booked over the phone, the owner Jonathan was beyond helpful, not only with booking the trip, but with answering questions I had about the area and things to do. This was a huge help because planning a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton can be extremely overwhelming. Everything was taken care of from the moment Steve picked us up. He offered muffins, juice and water to start and a full delicious lunch was included. It was helpful to be able to keep our eyes out for wildlife and sights while the guide drove and kept us interested in the history and provided an abundance of information about where we going, what we were seeing and even suggestions for the rest of our time in the area. Steve’s suggestions turned out great! He pointed us towards a hike that was absolutely stunning (one in which we encountered a bear cub which was exciting and terrifying). He gave great restaurant suggestions and told us some great spots we had never heard of. We traveled with a group of five ranging in age from 3 to 70! Steve was truly phenomenal at navigating a diverse group and gave the older travelers the push that they needed, while being realistic with what they can and can’t do. At one point he even carried my son. Without him our trip to Wyoming wouldn’t have been the same! I will certainly suggest Grizzly Tour to everyone I know!!
Absolutely the most wonderful day! Frank our guide made the trip amazingl! He knew exactly how to navigate the park. We learned so much and saw everything! He would drop us off, then run park the van and then come explore the sites with us . The traffic and constant construction was not a problem because Frank was so experienced in driving! He was delightful to spend the day with. We loved our picnic lunch along one of river picnic spots. It was a perfect tour!
I cannot imagine seeing Yellowstone any other way than a full-day private tour. The park is massive! Steve was an outstanding guide. His passion and knowledge for and about the park, it’s history, and its majestic features elevated the tour. We were able to navigate the traffic and see all the key points of interest on the southern loop without ever feeling rushed. Steve’s personality fit our family’s personality too. He was easy to be around (important when you’re together for 12 hrs!), and he was soon joking with our girls (15, 19, and 21). They were very engaged. A gourmet picnic lunch from a local restaurant was provided including tablecloth, placemats, cloth napkins, and silverware. Delicious and impressive! I can’t recommend this tour and Steve enough. Without a doubt we saw and experienced many more sights on the tour than we could have ever seen on our own.
This trip was amazing! Our guide Michelle is an expert naturalist and is a spectacular host and guide to Yellowstone. We highly recommend this tour and will definitely be back.
