Itinerary
After being picked up at your hotel in Mexico City, you will head first to Coyoacán, which name in Náhuatl means “place of coyotes“. Here, your guide will give you a brief explanation on the origins and importance of this quarter and the surroundings, and you’ll have time to walk around its streets and if you want to, have a light breakfast (at your expense). The Spanish used the area as their headquarters during the conquest of the Aztec Empire and made it the first capital of New Spain between 1521 and 1523. The village remained completely independent of Mexico City through the colonial period into the 19th century. The borough of Coyoacan, along with its bohemian ambience and diversity of activities to do and places to visit, make its historic center a highly popular place to visit.
For those who select the Blue House option: visit the iconic Frida Kahlo Museum (Blue House), where the artist was born, lived, and created many of her most meaningful works. Explore rooms preserved as they were in the 1950s, view personal belongings, artwork, photographs, and artifacts shared with Diego Rivera, and learn about Frida’s life, legacy, and deep connection to her Coyoacán home. Stroll through the enclosed garden, admire its symbolic design, and watch a short film that offers insight into Frida’s artistic vision.
For those who select the Red House option: step inside the newly opened Casa Kahlo (Red House) for an intimate look into the life and legacy of one of Mexico’s most celebrated artists. As you walk through the museum’s thoughtfully curated rooms, you’ll discover personal belongings, photographs, letters, and artifacts that reveal the emotional, cultural, and political world that shaped Frida’s art and identity.
The last stop is Ciudad Universitaria where your guide will explain to you about the murals of Rectoría and the Central Library belonging to the main campus of National University. Your tour ends with your hotel drop-off.
After getting acquainted with Frida's life, the tour continues towards one her favorite places: Xochimilco, or the place of flowers. Here, not only will you get information on its origins, going back to the pre-hispanic times, but you will also you enjoy a ride on a trajinera, a traditional boat of the area. After the ride, you’ll have spare time to walk around the crafts market or try the delicious food sold on the surrounding area.

Our guide Gerson & driver Hipólito were wonderful. Hipólito managed the crazy traffic to Coyoacán & Xochimilco & back expertly & cautiously while Gerson’s boundless knowledge about Mexico’s history captivated us at every site. He provided helpful tips about food & museums to visit too. We loved Coyoacán & would like to go back to spend more time exploring. The trajinera ride in Xochimilco was so much fun in spite of the thunderstorm. Would highly recommend this particular tour to anyone looking to experience Mexico City to the fullest!
I can't really comment on the tour, as they simply did not show up at the appointed time and place. I sent emails and texts in the days before, but heard nothing from them. I called the phone number, but there was no option to even leave a voicemail. Finally, five hours after they didn't show up they responded to my email from two days earlier claiming that they had told me the trip could not go forward as planned. I have no record of any such communication, and in any event they should have responded to my email if that were the case. An entire day of a family vacation ruined.
Dear 255bartt, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about your experience and understand how disappointing this situation must have felt for you and your family. From our side, we would like to clarify that, unfortunately, the tour could not be operated in the original modality you had booked. For this reason, our team contacted you on at least two occasions, more than 10 days in advance, to inform you of the situation and to offer the same tour in a shared-group format as an alternative. All these communications are documented in Viator’s internal chat. We did not receive any response to these messages, which led us to believe that the proposed alternative was not suitable for you. Based on the information recorded in the system, the service could not proceed as scheduled. The corresponding refund has already been processed through Viator. Best regards from the Quality Department of Amigo Tours.

My wife and I had an amazing experience with my private tour guide- Hector Montreal Aragon. From start to finish, he was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly attentive. His interpretations regarding Murals in UNAM, Frida Kayla Museum and Xochimilco boat ride are very impressive. His readiness to answer our every question truly made our tour special. The entire day was smooth, well organized. I highly recommend this guide to anyone looking for a personalized, informative, and memorable experience. Absolutely exceptional!

This tour was a great day tour to the southern part of Mexico City, seeing the Mexico City University / Azteca stadium area, visiting the Frido Kahlo Museum, stopping at the market in Coyoacán for a traditional lunch (which was very good!), spending some free time in the historic city of Coyoacán doing some shopping, and then taking a ~1 hour boat ride on the canals at Xochimilco, which was amazing to see all the boats and vendors along the river. The guide / driver did an excellent job and provided a lot of great information. The total tour duration was ~9 hours, including about 3 hours drive time between the various sites.
Dear KBrett_R We are pleased to hear that the team that accompanied you on your tour did an impeccable job and were able to ensure that you enjoyed every moment. We hope to see you again on one of our tours for another new and rewarding adventure. Kind regards from Amigo Tours. -Alma
Sergio and Barbara were so great!! Very informative and helpful. It was a great tour around areas we wouldn’t have gotten the chance to see
The best! Super good at their job and made us have a quality time! We saw many nice places and they knew a lot about history and art. An unforgettable experience.

Excellent service Julio and Cesar, sorry for the name I forgot but the 3 make this tour stand out from the rest, which joy to share with 3 amazing people like them.
Not a bad experience per se but pretty lackluster especially when you account for the fact that this is $200/pp. Drove to the university where we parked and looked at the outside of a stadium for 5 minutes then left. Drove to Xochimilco where the canal ride was fine but relatively brief (<1 hour in an 8 hour tour). No real lecture or context from The guide on the boat ride. Drove to Coyoacan where the guide gave us maybe 10 minutes of light overview then we were left on our own for 2 hours and 15 minutes to have lunch. Not sure why we set up the tour to have more than 1/4 of it just be waiting around randomly. Then we walked on our own to the Frida Kahlo house which was amazing. Guide did not come in to the house or help us with navigating it though. You should just buy a ticket to Frida Kahlo and uber there then walk around then uber to Xochimilco. Will save you $300 for 2 people with a minimal loss of additional context and it’s not hard to figure out what to do or where to go.
Dear Nicholas_S, We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your feedback. We will take your suggestion regarding the itinerary into account. Kind regards from AMIGO TOURS. -Judy.
