We met our guide, Buren, for a morning tour of the Muslim Quarter in Xi’an on a Thursday. We started off our morning in a TukTuk, and our first stop introduced us to a most delicious beef pancake at a tiny shop in one of the many alleyways of the Muslim Quarter. Buren was a wonderful guide. He shared stories about the history of the Muslim Quarter, the local shop owners and the history of the food we were eating. He also took us through the Muslim Quarter market, which is only open two days a week (and we were fortunate that our tour was on one of those days). We made 5 stops in all, and they were all well-chosen and delicious. I only wish our stomachs could have held more room for all of the wonderful things we tried. Buren and Lost Plate made this tour one of our standout experiences in Xi’an. Highly recommend!
Thank you for spending your Thursday morning with us in Xian. We are happy Buren could show you around the market and introduce you to those alleyway beef pancakes.
Highly recommend this breakfast tour. Our guide Buren was lovely, knowledgeable about Xi'an’s food culture, and took us to some great hidden gems, including a fascinating walk through the biweekly local market. It was an authentic introduction to the city’s breakfast scene. He was also a great help when we wanted to look for chili at the local market and even shared with us a couple of recipes for chili oil later. Thanks for sharing with us your passion for XI’AN food!

Great immersion into the morning taste buds and shopping of the locals. A great combination of walks and tuk tuk rides. The best was the grand finale of sour soup dumplings. Jane, the tour guide, was most helpful and knowledgeable in showing us around.

We had a wonderful Sunday morning tour with Diehl, we had our 3 year old with us and it was very easy to manoeuvre around with the use of the Tuktuk. A great way to learn more about Xian’s food culture.

This tour was absolutely exceptional. Spending the morning with Buren was one of the highlights of our time in Xi’an (and China overall). He was friendly, knowledgeable and made the experience feel authentic. Visiting the morning markets with him gave us an insight into local life that we would never have gained by walking through on our own. His knowledge and love for the local food was evident, and we enjoyed everything he recommended we try. The pace was great, and the TukTuk allowed us to see lots in the 3 hours - it was a fantastic way to experience a different side of Xi’an. We would absolutely recommend this tour as a 'must-do' to anyone visiting the city.
