Itinerary
Meet your guide In front of the World of Franz Kafka, Nám. Franze Kafky 16/1, 110 00 Staré Město, Czechia
You will see the Maisel Synagogue and the Spanish Synagogue, where some valuable Jewish objects were stored with the intention to install in the Nazi “museum of the extinct race”.
Will start with a walk through Josefov, the Old Jewish Quarter. This area was of a particular interest to the Nazi regime, deserted in 1941 when the transportation of Czech Jews to the Theresienstadt concentration camp began.
Take a closer look at the facade of the Old Town Hall which suffered heavy damage during the Prague uprising in May 1945. Luckily, the iconic Astronomical Clock has survived.
Another point of interest will be the Petschek Palace, which is the former seat of the Gestapo headquarters.
On the corner of the building you will find a memorial plaque dedicated to the Czech resistance. Learn about their offensive efforts, interrogations and tortures from your Expert-Guide. The tour will end in Wenceslas Square, which was used by the Nazis for mass demonstrations.
Visit the National Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror, which is located in the underground crypt of the Cathedral of Saints Cyril and Methodius. This the last hideout of the seven SOE-trained Czechoslovakian agents involved in the assassination of a high-ranking German SS and police official Reinhard Heydrich. Discover fascinating stories of the Czech Resistance!
In the Old Town Square you will see landmarks such as the Church of St Nicholas, the Kinsky Palace, and the magnificent Church of Our Lady before Týn.

Guide was nice. The tour seem to be more focused on the jewish part of town. She knew her subject but learned just as much from the other tour of Prague
Sofia was an outstanding guide. She gave useful context of Prague history to start and great insights throughout the 2 h tour. We always have a lot of questions and she was terrific. Highly recommend!
Dear Diane_B, We appreciate your kind feedback. A tour becomes special when curiosity meets a knowledgeable guide, and it sounds like you had just that with Sofia. We hope Prague left a lasting impression. Regards, Rosotravel Team
Very interesting visit with our guide Eva who shared the history of the Czech Republic since the beginning of the 20th century.
Hi JeanPhilippe_M, Thanks for your thoughtful review. We’re delighted that the tour gave you a deeper understanding of the Czech Republic’s modern history and that Eva’s storytelling made the experience engaging and memorable. Creating meaningful, well-guided experiences is at the heart of what we do, and your feedback truly means a lot to us. Hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again on another journey soon. Regards, Rosotravel team
Miroslava was very knowlegdeable and pleasant. She shared with us Czech history before, during and after WWII. Since she herself lived through the time of Communism, her personal stories really brought everything together.
Thank you so much kimberlyv362 for your kind words! We’re delighted to hear that Miroslava’s knowledge and personal stories made your WWII tour of Prague’s Old Town both informative and memorable. Rosotravel Team
It is very interesting learned a lot about the Nazi occupation during the war. Just know this is a fully outside tour and when we went it rained and was chilly!
Thank you so much Earl_M for your feedback! We’re glad you found the WWII History Tour of Prague’s Old Town interesting and informative. We appreciate your note about the weather—rain or shine, it’s always good to dress accordingly for a fully outdoor tour. Rosotravel Team
We met Hubert at 10am outside 'The World of Franz Kafka' and discussed an outline of the tour ahead. Hubert is one of the top guides with vast experience of hosting tours and travelling overseas to Guides Conventions so we were very lucky he was free to show us around. His English is superb too and nicely paced. A Saturday tour suited us which meant some of the Jewish venues were closed to the public and that was perfectly understandable. We started with the nearby Astronomical Clock and went on to a vast number of interesting venues and facts. My wife's wish to see the Petschek Villa (The Last Palace) was no problem and we learned how to use the Metro to get there and back, thanks to Hubert. The Petschek Villa is now the US Ambassador's residence so long distance photos best ! Czech police were understanding due to Hubert's explanations. Back in the 'city centre' our tour continued in Wenceslas Square with detailed explanations on the evolution of Czechia and its' revolutions and resistances, many with Hubert's own personal and very interesting stories. We ended with a visit to the 'Anthropoid' Crypt where we heard about the WWII assassination of SS general Heydrich and the ensuing search for his brave Czech assassins and their fellow soldiers in hiding. Hubert is passionate about his country and city and we were enriched by his expertise and experiences. A great day ! We have also ordered the Bluray of the 2016 movie now !
