The Shrine of the Wolves is...

The Shrine of the Wolves is a place where I was able to know about this species. In addition to being able to collaborate with the philanthropic work of the team. However, my tour was to be in Spanish and not English as it was. Also, the time inside the sanctuary was a maximum of 90 minutes.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed learning about the wolves and supporting the sanctuary’s work. We do want to clarify that this experience is not offered in Spanish. The tour description does not state that the visit is conducted in Spanish or Portuguese, and all activities are listed as English‑led. We understand how important language can be during a visit, and we’re sorry for any confusion that may have occurred before your arrival.

The Wolf Dog Sanctuary...

The Wolf Dog Sanctuary was interesting and good to see the animals up close. Really only need a couple of hours to explore it. We had a confused start as the car and driver that arrived were different from what we were advised and the driver didn't get out of the car to find us.

Operator response

I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the wolfdogs up close and had time to explore the sanctuary properly. It’s a special place, and two hours is usually the sweet spot for most guests. I’m really sorry about the confusion at the start of your tour. I appreciate you mentioning it so we can address it directly with our team.

Wolfdog tour

Great tour, was picked up and driven to wolfdog sanctuary in plenty of time, so we were taken to ghost lake before hand. We had 2 hours at the sanctuary, plenty of time to look about. Worth going to if you want a half day tour.

Operator response

Thank you again for joining us and for recommending the experience. It’s great to hear the timing felt just right and that the sanctuary visit gave you plenty of space to wander, watch, and take it all in. For anyone looking for a shorter adventure that still feels meaningful, your note about it being a perfect half‑day outing will be so helpful. Thank you for sharing this lovely review.

Beyond our expectations

We had a beautiful scenic drive out to the sanctuary, and we even made a stop at a town for ice cream and to see the oldest pub in calgary. The sanctuary was amazing. The wolfdogs were really well kept, and the talk was extremely informative. Our driver, Dair, was very friendly and went out of his way to make our trip enjoyable. On the way back, he also stopped at Ghost Lake, very picturesque. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour, which definitely exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend this tour as something a bit different and one that also supports wildlife. Thank you Dair...really appreciated.

Operator response

Thank you so much for this thoughtful review! I know Dair will appreciate your kind words. He genuinely loves creating a relaxed, memorable day for guests, and I’m happy his stop at Ghost Lake was a highlight for you. Thank you again for the warm recommendation and for supporting a place that does important work for these animals. It’s great to know the tour exceeded your expectations.

Wolfdogs stole my heart

I had a great experience at the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary! My guide Kevin was very kind, smiling and interesting. I really enjoyed spending time with him despite my limited English. Once at the sanctuary, I was able to enjoy the place peacefully without feeling rushed. I also attended the intro tour, which was very interesting. The wolfdogs are so calm and seem very friendly. 🥹 Such a great experience, I definitely recommend it. Thank you Kevin!

Operator response

Thank you for the recommendation and for taking the time to write this. It means a lot. It was a real pleasure spending the day with you, and I’m glad you felt comfortable even with the language barrier. You did great! Safe travels, and I hope our paths cross again.

Sanctuary

It opens your eyes to the world of exotic animal breeding and then owners realise they can’t keep them
