Winery tour & wine tasting at Douloufakis winery

Douloufakis Winery Tour was absolutely fantastic. The description of the tour states that the tour starts even in the journey to the Winery and that is absolutely true. The views all the way up are breath taking, including the little roads through the village to get to the actual Winery. We were greeted with friendly smiley faces at the front door and offered a welcome wine, which was beautiful, whilst we waited for the rest of the group to arrive. We arrived so early that we got to take a walk around the village to sight see which was wonderful. I would highly recommend getting there early or leaving late to take a walk around. As it was a windy day the tour started by taking a short ride in the back of a pickup truck to the fields full of beautiful grape vines. We learn about each type of grape and how they are blended to make the perfect wines. The upkeep of the vines and the history behind all the fields. We had time in the fields to wonder around and take pictures of the fantastic mountains views. We were then taken back to the winery for a tour around the factory and were educated in the production of all types of wine. This was eye opening into the effort and time that goes into each and every bottle. Following this was the wine tasting. We got to try 6 wines and each were beautiful with in their own way. Both tour guides were so friendly and welcoming. A special mention to Georgios who was perfectly knowledgeable and friendly. It was a thoughtful touch that he took the effort in learning everyone’s names and actually remembered! One thing I would say is get them to book a taxi for you if you are travelling that way. There is slim public transport and without a car it’s a tricky route. We traveled by Uber and it was near on impossible to find a taxi back without their help. Just mention this to Georgios on arrival and they can arrange that for you. Overall it was my favourite part of the holiday. A Fabulous day out!

Our visit to the Douloufakis Winery was one of the highlights of our time in Crete. Georgios was an exceptional host and guide who made the vineyard tour both highly informative and engaging. His passion for wine, the local grape varieties, and the winemaking traditions of Crete was evident throughout the entire visit. He explained the vineyard management, terroir, and winemaking process in a way that was easy to understand while still providing plenty of fascinating details for wine enthusiasts. The setting itself was absolutely beautiful. Walking through the vineyards while enjoying the stunning views over the surrounding landscape made the experience even more memorable. The combination of breathtaking scenery and expert explanations created a perfect atmosphere to learn more about Cretan wine culture. We left with a much deeper appreciation for the wines of Crete and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the visit. We highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in wine, local traditions, and authentic experiences. Thank you, Georgios, for such a wonderful and memorable day!

We booked many activities during our stay in Crete, but this was one of the few that felt authentic. Small group, stunning vineyard views, local food pairings, and wines we honestly could not find elsewhere. The Yamas experience felt warm and welcoming.

Excellent visit and tour! Warmly welcomed by Georgios whose passion and knwlof wine and its history in Crete was amazing, we spent Two hours understanding the wine making process and tasting wine. It’s an excellent experience with what, in my opinion, is probably the best wine maker in Crete. Highly recommended.

Catarina was very knowledgeable, friendly and charismatic. We learnt so much about Cretan wines. I took a group of friends and make a few purchases after the wine tasting. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Crete.

Hugely informative and good explanation about the (tasty) wines. Nice to get a little insight into the company and the way the wine is made. Christina supervised the tasting and did so with a lot of passion and enthusiasm. The snacks during the tasting were also a real hit. Definitely recommended and worth a visit!!

Highly recommended! Nice smooth explanation just a lot of information about the wines and surroundings and piece of history. We sat in the vineyard with a small group with a beautiful view. Good to drive to too.. In short... do it once!

Very friendly. Enjoyed the wine tasting. Do have the charcuterie with the wine tasting! Have found the wine in a lot of the Greek Islands and it is well worth ordering.
