A Lovely Afternoon Among the Vineyards and Olive Groves

What a lovely visit. Jessica was our guide and she did a fabulous job of explaining the wine and olive oil history, the beautiful area we were in and their business. She’s wonderful and very kind in helping accommodate a family member with limited mobility. The lunch with wines and olive oil at the end was delicious. Having been on tours at larger vineyards in Europe and the US, this was so much better. We toured with just our family of 8. Highly recommend!

A nice overview followed by a wonderful lunch.

It is a small winery in a lovely area. The wine quality is excellent. The views from the vineyards stretch forever. Best of all, the lunch that was served gave us full exposure to its wines and olive oil. The tour group was small, so the visit was more intimate than one would experience at larger wineries.

Just what we were looking for

We didn’t book in advance we just walked in and got a private olive oil tasting session with explanations by the owner, who was very nice and informative and helped us decide which oil we want to buy.

Great winery

As soon as we arrived yesterday in Montefalco, unable to visit the winery due to lack of reservation, we were directed to go to their shop a few steps away for a tasting. Welcomed warmly by the very kind lady, we were able to taste five of their wines, all very good: from Grechetto to Montefalco red, from two types of Sagrantino to Passito. Recommended

Exclusive and intimate tasting experience.

Exclusive and intimate experience, with the lovely Sophia guiding us through the tastings at a relaxed pace. She provided ample bread, cheese and salami, generous pours of each wine along with enthusiastic and knowledgeable explanations. It was very special and memorable - the highlight of our day trip to Montefalco.

Exceptional and educational wine experience

The four of us - two couples - had an exceptional experience here. I am a very experienced wine buyer and taster but not sufficiently familiar with Sagrantino. So this was perfect. Jessica was our host and we toured the vineyard, where she answered my nerdy question perfectly. On our return, we enjoyed an excellent light lunch with numerous wines to taste, including Sagrantino, the Rosso blended of merlot and sangiovese, and a lively Grechetto. I ended up ordering wine to ship home, which I do not normally do from Europe - the wonderful Ma Gia, along with some really freshly pressed and bottled olive oil (exceptional). I also ordered wine not yet released that is aged in clay amphorae. I await those with pleasure.

Experience that will last in our memories

Visiting the Montioni Frantoio & Cantina was an absolute highlight during our visit to Umbria. Our host Jessica told us the story of the company and explained the whole process in very immersive way - starting from the visit on the fields seeing how the plants grow, then showing us the technical aspects of the production and finally presenting the final products that we could try with a delicious lunch. We recommend such experience as a very pleasant way to make your trip to Italy unforgettable!

Great Umbrian wine

Was really a great experience. Very interesting discussion with the owner. Learned a lot of umbrien wines and wine making. We had also a nice olive oil tasting. We liked the intensive oil from Moraiola olives. Thanks Paolo!
