Wild South Mauritius Tour: Caves, Waterfalls and A Rock Pool

I would recommend a tour with Mauritius Tours if you are visiting this paradise island. We had a day out with Jay and had the best time. The tour was to places that you wouldn’t find without the help of an experienced guide. We visited a secluded beach and had a swim in the sea there, explored a cave that you would never stumble across if you were out exploring on your own. We swam in an ocean side pool that had waves crashing in to it as well as a pool under a waterfall, there was also the opportunity in the day to stand under two waterfalls and experience the power of the water cascading down on to you. This tour was one of the best that we have been on. If you want tour with lots of other people and to come across other tour groups doing the same thing when you are out then sign up with the masses, if you want a tour that is more personal then pay a little bit more and sign up with Mauritius Tours you won’t be disappointed with the day, we hardly saw anyone else when we were out visiting the sites with them.

We booked the Wild South Tour after seeing a review by Just Kris on Facebook. It was an early start but was worth it!!! We picked up Jay at 7am and he took over the driving and off we went. At the cave I struggled with the climbing along slippery rocks so Jay found a different route for me and then through the rest of the trip showed me exactly how and where to put my feet - even at times held my hand to make me feel safer - I honestly can’t thank him enough. The first waterfall was beautiful a couple of photos taken there before we left we bought (and paid 200 MUR) for fresh coconut. Off on the next drive to our own secluded 🏖️ beach first swim opportunity - though Jay does warn you about the currents, but it was fun. Lunch was great - I had the noodles delicious. We went to the stunning rock pool - this was challenging for me but Jay directs you well to keep you safe - and it’s something I’ll never forgot - relaxing in the volcano rock pool with waves crashing all around you. Spotting lots of crabs and rock hoppers, sea urchins and we even saw an octopus hiding too then Jay says stand still … I’m not going to ruin it - do the tour and find out!!! Our last stop was an awesome waterfall and pool again all to ourselves. We have done lots of tours on our holiday but this one is a private off the beaten path with honestly no other tourists to ruin a gorgeous photo moment!! You have to do it!! Jay and Jenny were so helpful in all parts of organising of this tour.

We had an absolutely incredible day with Jay! From start to finish, it was a full day packed with adventure, breathtaking scenery, and unforgettable experiences. We explored a hidden sea cave, visited the beautiful Rochester Falls, hiked through stunning coastal trails to secluded rock pools, swam at a secret beach, and finished the day with a delicious local lunch. We tried the chicken fried noodles, and they were absolutely delicious! What really made this tour stand out was Jay. We were travelling with our 4-year-old son, and Jay went above and beyond to make sure our family could safely enjoy every part of the adventure. He arranged a life jacket for him, provided a child carrier for the steep hiking sections, and was always attentive without taking away from the fun. Safety was clearly his top priority, and he never compromised when it came to ensuring we were comfortable and secure. Jay was knowledgeable, professional, patient, and genuinely passionate about sharing the hidden gems of Mauritius. Thanks to him, we experienced places we never would have found on our own. I cannot recommend this epic tour highly enough! It was easily one of (if not the best) the standout moments of our honeymoon. Our guide, Jay, was fantastic, taking us to hidden parts of the island we would have completely missed otherwise and helping us capture incredible photos that we can't wait to print. A quick note for anyone considering this: the tour can be slightly challenging in places, especially if you aren't the most adventurous. As someone who loves a gentle hike back home in South Wales but is wary of heights and rough terrain, I was initially a bit cautious. However, I needn’t have worried. Jay was phenomenal at providing the perfect balance of challenge and support. Whenever the landscape got tricky, he took our bags, slowed the pace, and carefully guided our steps. He seamlessly adapted the day to our skill level, the weather, and the sunrise, giving me the confidence to push through and experience moments I would have otherwise missed. The logistics and communication from both Jenny and Jay were also the best I’ve ever experienced. When bad weather forced us to reschedule, they were incredibly accommodating. They helped us find a new date and even updated our pickup point, as we had moved to a hotel in the north of the island by the time the weather cleared. I really appreciated their thoughtful touches, from double-checking our footwear and advising us on what to pack, to Jay taking the time to seamlessly handle my dietary preferences at our lunch stop. Overall, this is a brilliantly organized experience. It is challenging enough that you finish the day feeling incredibly proud of your achievements, having seen some truly magical parts of Mauritius, but so well run that you never feel unsupported or overwhelmed.

A Must-Do Tour in Mauritius We had an amazing experience on the Wild South Tour in Mauritius! The itinerary was brilliantly planned and took us to some of the island's hidden gems and spectacular landscapes, from beautiful viewpoints to secret cave and rockpools and a secret beach. Our guide Jay shared fascinating insights about the island's history, culture, and natural beauty throughout the day. His enthusiasm and sense of humor made the tour even more enjoyable. The pace was perfect, giving us enough time to explore, and appreciate each stop without feeling rushed. I highly recommend the Wild South Tour to anyone visiting Mauritius. The tour felt more like an experience of exploring the island with a friend rather than a typical tourist tour. Everything was very relaxed, with no strict schedules, just enjoying the places at your own pace. Jenny went above and beyond to provide a great and personalized tour. She even stopped at KFC so I wouldn’t leave Mauritius without trying it! That was amazing. You can really feel the passion they have for what they do in the way they treat their clients and showcase the island while being mindful of the environment. It’s hard to find agencies that align with these values, and this one definitely does, which makes the experience even better. Without a doubt, the tour was one of the highlights of my trip and made a real difference. It’s a shame I didn’t find this agency sooner. I would have gone on all their tours. I don’t usually write reviews, but this tour was so good that it truly deserves one.

The wild south tour was a great day out and we made some great memories together. The cave was exciting and the coastal walk to the rock pool was beautiful. Jay was a great guide and took plenty of photos for us. He told us a lot about Mauritian culture and history during the day and even took us for lunch at a local restaurant which had lovely food.
