WINTER July and August : Sailing + Hiking (30 minutes) with Papuan penguins in Martillo Island Duration: approx. 7 hours Departure : 14 : 00 hs. | Presentation 13 : 30 hs. at the Tourist Port. Season from October Beagle Canal Navigation + Penguin Walk : Departure by BOAT: 10.30 | Return by BUS: Between 18:00 and 18:30 Departure by BUS : 08.30 | Return by boat: Between 16.30 and 17:00 Sail along the Beagle Channel, where you can observe the Fueguin fauna on Bird Island and the Isle of Wolves, as well as the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. Once you arrive at Estancia Harberton, cross by boat to Isla Martillo where you can walk with penguins for 1 hour. The tour starts at the tourist pier of Ushuaia. They must show up 30 minutes before departure time.
Ushuaia, a windy city, nestled on a steep hill, is surrounded by the Martial Mountains and the Beagle Canal. It is an access road to cruises to Antarctica and tours near Yécapasela Island, known as "Penguin Island" for its colonies of this species.
Martillo Island, or Yecapasela Island, is an island territory in the Beagle Channel belonging to the Ushuaia Department of Tierra del Fuego Province, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands at the southern tip of Argentine Patagonia. Its area is 32 hectares.
