Perched on the top of a hill at about 200mt in the Valle d’Itria, Ostuni is called the “White City” because all the buildings in its historic center are painted in white lime or whitewashed from the roof down. You will walk along the narrow alleys up at the highest point where there is the Cathedral of Santa Maria dell’Assunzione. Our excursion is even more enchanting thanks to the wonderful setting which surrounds the city; the Ostuni sea. It has been awarded with several “Blue Flags” and has been declared as “the cleanest in Italy”.

Lucia’s knowledge of the history of Ostuni is bar none. Plus she is a true local, born and raised. Book with Lucia
Lucia is lovely. Whilst her English was OK, to be honest it wasn't good enough to provide a good overview without confusing us a little.
Beautiful city giving exactly what you would expect - lovely views. A town steeped in history and should be seen in conjunction with Cisternino and Alberobello for comparison.
Ostuni is really pretty and full of life, the only flaw in the restaurant industry, in my opinion not very organized. In August at the height of the season, it was not possible to book a table for dinner, the restaurateurs in the historic center tell you to try to go early, or by phone they put a secretary who gives you fixed times to call and book, only to say that they are already full. One evening, by chance we found a free seat in a place that in the main square, offers cocktails, dinner and some music. After a forty-five minute wait we were served an appetizer, nothing exceptional, and after another hour of waiting to have a first course, which never arrived, we decided to pay and leave.
More than a city I would call it a village. In an hour you saw everything. You could improve the attractions of this village with a few more attractions. Nice old town but short the route to do. In the center they offer bee tours for 30 euros per person (30 minutes) with explanations of points of interest or 15 euros with a 15-minute tour without explanation. I find it a robbery!!!!!! Personally, I was disappointed. Would not recommend it. Easily accessible from Bari by train fs. Then from the station there is a bus that takes you up in a few minutes. Tickets sold at the station bar. The boy is very kind.
Saluti
Mario was exceptionally knowledgable and had great insight into the history of the area. Would highly recommend.
Thank you Nicolestry for your feedback! Greetings from Puglia
