The Vaccaro brothers, famous "puppeteers" of Syracuse, will guide you in discovering the secrets of the scene, you will also be able to live a unique experience maneuvering the puppets and marionettes, becoming a puppeteer for a day too! You will hear the stories of brave paladins and damsels who, to defend their love, faced great challenges, tests of valor and heroic deeds among monstrous creatures and magic. A completely new way to listen to the verses of chivalric poems, to let you experience the atmosphere of distant times, you can also visit the museum, a place full of mystery, history and enchantment. At the end of the guided tour you will be able to watch a show being staged and listen to fabulous stories and poems of fearless knights. Let yourself be carried away by the stories - which tell of valiant knights, ladies and sorcerers - taken from ancient novels and poems of the Carolingian era, represented in the splendid setting of the puppet theater in Syracuse.

Do your inner child a favor and checkout this wonderfully unique Siracusa offering, and discover the history of puppetry at their Museo dei Pupi. Afterwards, the puppet show is not to be missed in its intimate theatre. The museum guided tour is presented by a passionate puppeteer, Sara, who gave us an informative, and fascinating background on the Sicilian version of this amazing art form. This was followed by a delightful, and spectacular, lively puppet show. Here, the colorful characters are brought to life in an ongoing, dramatic tale. Puppets appear bigger than life high up on the stage. Humans stay offstage while they act out the story. The performance is given imaginative staging with its lineup of beautifully costumed puppets, vivid scenery and great voicing. The puppets are an enjoyable and fun outing in Siracusa that you shouldn’t miss out on.
The puppet show was excellent! Very well done. Great seats and great performers! An experience not found in the USA. This is a great experience for young and old! It was in Italian but still great!

Seeing the museum before the show can give you a better appreciation of the marionette show. Try and stop in and see new marionettes being created in a storefront shop across from the museum. It is helpful to read the print explaining the puppets. Some of the faces of the puppets can be scary for young kids.
