Vikings A- Z

A good overview and linear history of the Vikings. Although it is a considerable length of history, Gabriel our guide, was able to share this period with insight and humour.

A great experience with Gabriel.

Our tour guide Gabriel was informative and passionate about Viking history. The time just flew by as he drove us to the different sites on the itinerary. It was interesting to hear a different perspective on Viking history than are held in my own country. We also were told a little about present day Sweden. There was so much information it was difficult to process and remember it all but that's a good virtue from any tour. Next time I'm in Stockholm though I will book the full day tour as there is so much more to learn. Highly recommend this tour.

Awesome tour! Olaf was an incredible guide with lots of knowledge about viking history and Swedish history in general. We saw several rune stones and visited Sigtuna for a while. It was also the perfect length tour for someone with jetlag at about 5 hours.

Great tour and worth the investment in time and cost.

Olof the guide was awesome and very friendly and gave my group great historical background of Sweden and gave us time to enjoy each site. The lunch and walk through old Viking era churches in Sigtuna was the highlight and capstone of the tour.

This tour is a good intro...

This tour is a good intro into Viking history, and I was able to learn more about the Vikings that I didn’t know before. I wish there was more info about Viking culture and a deeper dive into the history, but for a half day tour it was good. Our guide Olaf was very nice, good driver and explained every site well, along with sharing more info about Stockholm on the drive (which I appreciated). It was a good day!

Viking Runes - Social Media Viking Style

Had a wonderful time on this half day tour of Viking History with our guide, Olaf. My wife and I, and three others did the tour together. We had several stops to view Viking runes (carved stones that tell a short story about an individual Viking) on the way to Sigtuna, one of the oldest towns, and first capital of Sweden. You might think of runes as an early form of social media, Viking style, as they share a public message about the author that he/she wants others to know about him or her, probably true, or perhaps embellished a little bit. In any event it is interesting that we can interpret these stones hundreds of years later and compare their messages to what we might say about ourselves today. To me, the study of history always shows that humans have much more in common with each other than our believed differences. Olaf definitely knew his Viking History and shared stores of both the personal lives of some of the prominent early Vikings as well as their overall influence on modern day Sweden and beyond. In Sigtuna, we also viewed the ruins of some early churches founded by the Vikings and Olaf explained why the churches were built and how Christianity became a part of the Viking story. At the end of the tour, we had a nice lunch at one of the several restaurants in Sigtuna. The price of the lunch is not included in the tour fee. If you're interested in Viking History, or even history in general, I would recommend this tour.
