Explore the sights of the city on your own. The Salzach flows through the middle of the city. On the left bank is the old town, designated as a pedestrian zone, with buildings from the Middle Ages and Baroque.
The first Baroque church north of the Alps, Salzburg Cathedral, was built between 1614 and 1628 on the site of a medieval, repeatedly renewed and rebuilt predecessor.

Our driver was fabulous. He was so informative on what we would be seeing but also about Austria. He took a different route back to Vienna so we could see more of Austria. He was outstanding!
