Itinerary
Start near Verona’s historic center, close to the Arena area. Quick introduction to Verona as a “walled city” and why monumental gates mattered for trade, control, and defense. MID (fun fact): city gates were often real checkpoints, with guards and taxes on goods entering the city.
A major monumental gateway into the city. Great spot to explain Verona’s strategic position between the Po Valley and the routes heading north. Photo stop: short stop for pictures, focusing on the gate and the long perspective of the avenue. MID: many gates were “upgraded” over centuries—same function, different architectural styles depending on the era.
One of Verona’s most striking gates and a highlight along the city walls. Storytelling: Verona’s fortifications and how the city evolved through periods of conflict and protection. MID: in many Italian cities, walls were not only defensive—they also marked administrative and tax boundaries.
A key stop to understand medieval Verona and the city’s political power. Storytelling: the Scaliger period and why castles inside cities were symbols of authority as much as military structures. Photo stop: short stop for photos. MID: urban castles were sometimes built to control the city itself—not only external enemies.
A clear Roman signature in Verona—ideal for a quick deep dive into the city’s ancient roots. Storytelling: Roman Verona as a crossroads; arches as monuments that communicated power and prestige. MID: Roman architecture was also propaganda—stone and proportions designed to say “Rome rules here.”
One of the most recognizable Roman gates in Verona and a must for photos. Storytelling: entrances to the Roman city, daily life, travelers, and goods. Photo stop: short stop focusing on the façade. MID: many modern streets still follow ancient routes—cities change, but paths often remain.
A scenic riverside stop—perfect for open views and photos. Storytelling: Verona and the river, the role of bridges in urban growth, and a final panoramic perspective. MID: bridges are often the best “urban balconies”—they reveal the real geography of a city.

An excellent way of getting to know beautiful Verona in a quick, relaxing manner! Especially in the middle summer, we would never have walked around so much to see all the places we saw with the ride. Thanks a lot!
Tour was good but not sure it was worth the cost of the tour since the narrative was just a recording at each stop. Our guide, Mohamed, was nice and personable and knowledgeable. The meeting place needs to be updated on the app. It shows the meeting place beyond the start of the piazza where we were waiting (early). Almost 15 minutes beyond the start time, I tried to call the office but had to leave a vm message. The guide called me shortly after I left the vm message that he was waiting at a different place (at one end of the park). The guide still concluded the tour at the scheduled time so we lost 15 minutes of tour time due to no fault of ours.
We had booked a tour at 12:00, unfortunately no one was there. After a lot of back-and-forth phone calls, a car finally arrived an hour later and let another group out. However, the driver also didn't know that he was supposed to take us with him. After long negotiations, he finally let us get in. After all, we had already transferred €180 and waited an hour in the heat. Too bad, it was very annoying 🥵
The Audi guide was clear and loud enough for two hearing impaired people to follow. The level of detail was just right and the hour gave a really helpful history of the architecture and military significance of Verona.
This was a good way to see all the main city sights especially when it's so hot outside. That said, the experience is also something of being in a small and slightly vulnerable speed-limited vehicle being driven as fast as it will go around some very busy streets. The golf cart makes sense down some of the quieter narrower lanes, but there's an element of roller coaster ride elsewhere, especially coming down from the castle, and especially if sitting facing outwards at the back. The commentary was recorded. Our Polish guide did his best to point out buildings but was less useful at answering questions.
We had a great tour with Martin! He was an excellent driver, friendly and got us some really good shots of the view above Verona. We’d never have found it ourselves, in the short time we had there.
The Golf Cart never turned up! Waited 30 minutes We were very disappointed as we had enjoyed this type of tour in Rome
No one showed up and no one was reachable either.
We had one day in Verona so this was an excellent quick tour of all the sites without the stress of the heat and tourists
Well it was great. We're a little late getting started but in the end, did a great job. This is a beautiful city.
