The construction of the Basilica of St. Mark was completed in 1092, and is an important example of Italo-Byzantine and Gothic architecture. The Doge’s Palace was initially built in the 800s but then destroyed due to a fire. It was then rebuilt in the 1340s and remains as it was to this day.
