Our tour guide was a wonderful local woman who educated and informed us as we traversed from restaurant to restaurant.
We enjoyed it, the guide Daria was very good, the explanations, the food, the tour, everything excellent.
I loved the food and the tour guide was the best absolutely loved her!!!
Met at Despar Teatro Italia. Guide was Daria, a local who grew up in the sestiere of Cannaregio and took us on a 2.5 hr tour of the sestiere on foot stopping at a select number of places eating typical Venetian cicchetti, gelato, Spritz and a sit down dinner. It was an intimate group of 5 people plus Daria. Atmosphere was very friendly. Daria know her stuff. She didn't just talk about food but also gave us a surprising amount of knowledge of the city generally. Tried Baccala Monticato, Gamberi con Polenta, Spritz (Select), several cups of Prose Artichoke heart, Rissotto con Vongole at da Bruno (really good), ordered a litter of locally produced right from the jug at wine at Rimani Venezia for less than 5 euro (they sell other stuff too) and capped the day with gelato at Maison de la crepe. Daria also pointed out other good local spots that we couldn't make it to on the tour. Would love to go on another tour with Daria. Just note the tour company voucher may give you different information on what to expect. The voucher said to expect someone in a red branded shirt and a sign, when that wasn't actually the case but I dont think that was on Daria. She was wonderful. We sat down at most places to eat but stood at 1 or 2. The walk wasn't bad even given the excessive heat and humidity, in total just under 3 miles or 4.5 Km/5000 steps. Most of it on the narrow streets and alleys, so out of direct sun exposure. I would definitely recommend. Worth every euro.
Daria our guide and she was great. She was a local who grew up in Venice and gave us a rich experience in the local cuisine. If you want to try foods that go beyond the tourist locations at St. Mark’s Square or foods/drinks that would not normally know to eat, this is a great tour.
Very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide (I believe her name was Olivia). Talked to everyone on the tour and got to know a bit about us all. Also shared a lot of knowledge about the local history - very informative
