The person from the agency kept calling us where we were. I confirmed multiple times. They said be at the meeting place early so we were and the person wasn't even there yet. Not good communication. Stressed out. The ride itself was nice. I would not use this agency again.
A trip to Venice isn’t complete without a gondola ride. Going on a ride through the side canals was a perfect way of seeing other parts of the city.
It was a little disappointed. We expected to see a little bit more sightseeing. We also got confusing directions about the pier to meet in. The person was really great, though they came and picked us up at the wrong location and brought us to the correct location. It was not really what we expected, but it was fine.
No one at the meeting place. Could not get ahold of anyone. Never got on the ride. After waiting for an hour, we left. Anyone around with other operators had no idea who this operator was.
You called us 17 minutes later than the departure time. Of course, the guide left with the rest of the group who were there on time. Do not be late.
The goldole ride was calmung. And romantic. Venice is a beautiful city. The Gondoke driver was extremelt talented missing the cornerns by just inches...VERY SKILLED! wonderful experience. Mark
Not what we expected! Wasn’t a bad tour but literally was a “ride around the block” and off. Basically, we can say we rode in a gondola. If you want a more private (or romantic) trip this is not it.
I was a bit disappointed because the boat looked quite beaten up, the young gondolier was timid in passing and didn't have the experience yet of the more seasoned guys. It was also quite short, less than 30 min. The good thing was that we didn't have to share th we boat.
Gondolas are traditional vessels of Venice, and while some may show signs of age, they are carefully maintained and regulated as part of the city’s heritage. Their appearance is not comparable to modern boats, as they follow historic construction and preservation standards. They are used as means of transport rather than weekend sailing. Regarding the gondolier, all licensed gondoliers must complete extensive training and pass official exams before operating. While some may appear more reserved than others, their primary responsibility is to safely navigate the canals, rather than provide commentary or entertainment. In terms of duration, standard gondola rides in Venice are approximately 25–30 minutes, which is in line with what you experienced. Routes and timing can vary slightly depending on canal traffic and conditions on the day. A gondola ride is designed to be a short, atmospheric journey through the canals, offering a unique perspective of the city rather than a guided tour.
Very short experience. Never been on a gondola and we enjoyed the experience but it wasn't anywhere near the length advertised. Basically around the block! Fortunately by luck we ended up being the only ones on the trip which made it a cheap private gondola!
As advertised, it is only 30 minutes on the gondola. Time passes quickly in Venice! I am glad you enjoyed it after all.
This is iconic experience and enjoyable. I was surprised it was only 20 minutes, however. We went at sunset which was great.
Staff was very helpful by confirming our reservation and directing us to the closest vaporetto stop for easy gondola entry.
