Main Ghat of Varanasi
Manikarnika Ghat, the main burning ghat, is the most auspicious place for a Hindu to be cremated. Dead bodies are handled by outcasts known as doms, and are carried through the alleyways of the old town to the holy Ganges on a bamboo stretcher, swathed in cloth.
Aarti is a Hindu ritual, in which light is offered to one or more deities. Aarti also refer to the songs sung in praise of the deity, when offering of lamps is being offered. Hindus in India worship the river Ganges as goddess. Every evening in Varanasi, aarti is performed at the Dashashwamedh ghat. We can watch it from the ghat or from the waterside in a boat. It is a beautiful, resonant, and majestic spectacle with a very precise choreography involving rituals performed by several priests with the sound of bells, drums, cymbals, and Sanskrit mantras. The river is also worshiped with flower petals.

Great experience with this tour, everything was so well organized from meeting-greeting us up to the final minute. Very thoughtful arrangement of logistics (taxi, boat, great seats to watch Aarti and an escape walk when the ceremony was about to finish through the ghat building to the old city streets), deep and open discussions with the guide, lots of insights and new information. We will be booking another tours with this guide while we are in Varanasi this week for sure. Thank you!
It is a memorable experience for all once in a lifetime experience Guide was excellent and courteous

We had an incredible experience with our guide, Vinod. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful throughout the entire evening, making the experience both smooth and memorable. His insights added so much depth, giving us a truly authentic feel of Varanasi. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a meaningful and immersive Varanasi experience with a friendly and well-informed guide.
Ganga Aarti was the highlight of our stay in Varanasi. Vinod, our guide, was super knowledgeable and friendly. After the Aarti he took us through some of the Old Varanasi alleyways, which was a great exploration. Overall, it was very well organised with super comfortable transfer and excellent views of Ganga Aarti.
This was an excellent tour. Indrajeet was a calm and knowledgeable presence and he did well guiding us through the crowds. We had a comfortable seat and great view for the Aarti. Highly recommend.
We were a group of 18 people..we booked DOUBLE DECKER BOAT TOUR & attended GANGA AARTI while on the boat on our own…no tour was ever arranged or no guidance/ help was given to us by this crazy hotel staff. Watching GANGA AARTI from the BOAT was a GREAT EXPERIENCE. It was beautiful. But the hotel staff of HVH KASHI VISHVANATH didn’t have any knowledge about anything so what would they guide about. They rather guided us wrong about the timing of popular Kashi Chat Bhandar - they told us the way to reach this eatery but when we went there it was closed & neighbouring shops told us they open at 3:00 pm in the afternoon.😟😟
Wonderful tour with Indrajeet! He skillfully tailored the tour to my interests, and scored me a top notch balcony spot from which to clearly view the incredible Aarti ceremony. A special evening I will forever remember!
An incredible experience, very rich and interesting. Our guide was very professional and caring.
