Guided tour of Valletta and Malta's culinary delights

Excellent 2.5hr tour guiding the group around Valletta with frequent stops to taste local Vallettan and Maltese food and drink. Starting just outside the main city gate we were guided through both main thoroughfares and quieter streets to visit small local Vallettan run restaurants, coffee shop and hostelries to been given a truly delicious experience of the main delights of local food both savoury and sweet, and locally produced wine, beer and Kimmie to drink, with a midday stop at the Upper Barrakka Gardens to experience the firing of the noon gun. This is for anyone wishing to experience an interesting and different tour of Valletta.

Great food and culture tour

My wife and I had a great time on this tour. The various food stops were good with an interesting variety of Maltese fare on offer. You definitely won't be hungry at the end. Karl was a great host and very knowledgeable about Malta and the history and sites of Valletta. We would definitely recommend this tour.

Great guide and so friendly

Our guide Karl was so friendly and knowledgeable. We went around in a small group of 6 of us and had an amazing tour showing us the history of Valetta with awesome food. Karl seemed to know the answer to every question we could think of, covering a massive period of history. Would definitely recommend.

Nice tour with different...

Nice tour with different food groups and some history thrown in. Tour leader was very amicable. But you still have to fight the crowds.

Good guide terrible food

We had a lovely guide that was very informative and helpful. However we couldn’t believe how poor the food was on the visit. It was very ordinary and easily the worst food experience we have ever experienced and we have done many other walking food tours. Malta food is better than what we experienced.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are pleased to hear that you found your guide informative, helpful, and enjoyable throughout the tour. We are naturally disappointed to read your comments regarding the food. Our Valletta Food Tour has been carefully developed over many years to showcase authentic Maltese cuisine through a selection of family-run establishments and traditional local specialities. While we appreciate that food preferences are highly subjective, your assessment is certainly not representative of the feedback we typically receive from our guests. In fact, many recent participants on the very same tour you have been on have specifically praised both the quality of the food and the overall balance between the culinary and cultural aspects of the experience. Nevertheless, we value all feedback and will continue working closely with our food partners to ensure we provide the best possible introduction to Maltese food and culture. Thank you again for joining us during your visit to Malta.

Your tastebuds will love you forever!!

Karl was an absolute superstar. He brought Valletta, its history, its architecture and – especially – its food to thrilling, enchanting life. We’ve gone on many walking tours over the years, from the US and throughout Europe and none of them have come close to this phenomenal experience. It is the perfect way to get an unrivaled “taste“ of Malta’s rich culinary tradition. Just GO!!!!!
