Valletta Audio Tour: From Cruise Port to President's Palace

Description
Valletta is one of Europe's smallest capitals, yet few pack in so much history. On this self guided audio tour, you'll follow 455 years of history from Knights' fortress and British Empire gardens to a modern European republic through war, trade, and foreign rule. You'll stroll among bastions to the Upper Barrakka Gardens, where cannons still fire at noon over the Grand Harbour. From there, Valletta's ceremonial spine leads through this Renaissance stronghold turned Baroque and Empire UNESCO World Heritage City. You'll hear how the 1565 Great Siege prompted Valletta's construction, pass Renzo Piano's Parliament House and a Knights' era pillory, and stop at Malta's oldest café, known for its art and pastizzi. The tour ends at St. George's Square, before the Grand Master's Palace with Valletta's longest wooden balconies – once the Knights' seat, now the Presidential Office.
