Uniquely Kiwi Landsailing Adventure

We thoroughly enjoyed our blokarting experience at Velocity Karts. The staff were all friendly and helpful and taught us how to maximize the blokarts performance for the conditions. Driving the blokarts is a great challenge trying to optimize how much energy you can capture from the wind and transfer into forward motion. In fact we enjoyed it so much we decided to buy some Karts for ourselves! Ian was very helpful with advising on what was required and helping sort out the details. Highly recommend this activity to other individuals and families. It's neat to see your kids try something new and take on a new adventure together!

What an amazing experience. The wife and I are both in our 60's. The grins on our faces told the story. Exhilarating and reminded me of when I was sailing my dinghy 45 years ago. My only concern was the time went by so quickly. We liked blokarting so much we are looking at purchasing one for ourselves. Velocity Karts instructors were brilliant. Clear instructions and helpful. The next time that we are down on Christchurch we will try and book another session.

Had an absolutely amazing experience driving those unique vehicles! My girlfriend was very sceptical about it (how do you steer them, how do you slow down or how fast are those things going) but also got the hang of it very quickly. The staff explained it very clear and also stood on the track to give advice if you should tighten or loosen the rope. After a while everyone was trying to ret as fast as possible around the corners and checking out the limits. The hour of pure driving time seems a lot, especially considering the circular track you are driving. But I promise it won't get boring. When you have a few minutes time after this, definitely try out the drift karts as well! Learned from it from a YouTube Video of devinsupertramp who did this with his crew years ago. Originally landed in Christchurch and thought that you can drive those on the north island too - till I found out that the company does not exist anymore. So I was very upset about it. In the end our ferry got cancelled and so we had spare time to drive back to Christchurch just for this one. We did not regret it!

Ian and his team went through everything and even for those who are unfit or not sporty, they give you the confidence to do it and have a great time.

We had a blast!! Ian and his crew were amazing from the intro to the on course instructions .They adapted the carts to everyone’s comfort level.

Had a blast! We were all 65 and had no issues enjoying the experience!!! Ian and his lads were so helpful and had a great sense of humour! Would do it again in a heart beat!

This experience is dependent on weather. We didn’t have much wind so spent our time going around a shortened course and our carts stopped several times due to lack of wind so not very exciting. We were looking forward to having pictures to share with our grandkids but the young lady who said she would take pictures forgot.

This was so much fun and it was a great way to spend part of the afternoon. Great instructors and such a unique activity. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed the blocarts. The weather didn't cooperate as much as we'd hoped, but the operators toughed it out admirably, and gave us the time we needed to actually get the experience. When we finally did get some good wind, the wait was worth it. The only thing I'd suggest is for the operators to develop a relationship with the places where they pick up clients... when I couldn't get ahold of the operators on the day we went, there was some anxiety about if we were in the right place for our pickup. That could have been addressed if the hotel operator had known "yes, this place is where blocart riders get picked up".

Ian and the staff went above and beyond!! They arranged to pick us up early because they had an opening, and we had the track all to ourselves. We had great fun! Highly recommend!
