Overall this was a very disappointing experience. There was not one person /indication that Viato was involved. We were picked up at 7:12 AM and dropped off at 10 PM that is 15 hours not 12 as indicated on the tour info. Our Fee of 910 Pesos ($45 US) for Park entrances was not used for my youngest grandson but pocked by the tour company and not returned. He did not get a park wrist band. The guide spoke mostly in Spanish and very little English. We were rushed at every stop. I have taken MANY Viator Tours and would not recommend this tour - and may never take another Viator Tour again. when we were picked up the driver spoke no English and were were taken to a Mexican 'Souvenir store where the collected the 'Park Fees' Not telling us at all what was going on. My grand childen who were the two (ages 24 and 14) were worried because no one said what was going on or why were why we were at a souvenir store on a tour to Mexican Ruins! And there is no way to get my Park fees back.
It was an absolute mess. From what we booked was nothing as it was presented. First, you are dragged through the ruins of Tulum and have no chance to look at anything or stop to enjoy the view. Afterwards we continue to Coba. That was an absolute mess. The temple shown in the pictures is not nearly as shown. You first walk 2km through the forest to then stand in front of a construction site and look up at the temple, which of course you do not see. Afterwards we went back to the bus and had lunch, which we were finally allowed to have around 4 p.m. Then a shaman ceremony was held in Spanish. For German or English speakers there was no chance for a translation. Then we went on to a Cenote, which was again the complete opposite of the photos shown on the website. Here we had to pay additional fees that never showed up before and are not shown. Fortunately, the Cenote has softened this wash a bit by its beauty. All in all, it was a very badly clocked and executed excursion. We don't recommend you, just a waste of time. We are very disappointed and hope to spare other guests this failure.
Our main guide was Abelino. We had a tour with majority Spanish speaking but he was easily able to speak in both languages to ensure everyone was included equally. Great job being both entertaining and giving us space when needed including quiet times in the bus. Driver Victor was smooth and kept things moving seamlessly. Assistant Roberto was kind and great. I forgot the other tour guides name but she was succinct and knowledgeable and I liked her as well. Timing was close to as advertised. Enough time to appreciate Tulum and have a bit of a guided move through it with time to appreciate things. My recommendation: Feel free to move out separately as needed to take photos and see things. By the time you get to Coba during summer, you are ready to NOT walk, and honestly if you do decide to walk (free) you won't have time to enjoy too much. They get you here with the tricycles or bicycle rental. If anyone in your group is tired go for the trikes. Worth it. And sometimes they show you an extra spot if you are ahead of the main group. The meal was fantastic compared to other tours. Buffet, no drinks included (not even water), but better quality and selection by far! The cenote was also amazing, a completely underground cave pool. We had done a 3 Cenote tour 2 days earlier so through it'd be a repeat but it was so different. Mandatory rental of life vest for a few bucks if you go in. Finally Playa Del Carmen after a bus nap. You might wish you have more time here honestly. It's very fast but you can enjoy a dessert of chocolate shop or one or two shipping spots. The walking street is great. They don't say it ahead but bring a water container (in addition to any a plastic bottle) since Tulum apparently doesn't let you bring them in? And bring LOTS of liquid, even if you leave most of it on the bus.
Never responded, allowed me to book and pay without scheduling a time for me to go on the tour. TripAdvisor issued a refund. If you look closely at the reviews, this is a pattern of theirs I would not book. Much better options are available.
Excellent trip, very full day of exciting activities. Our family of 6 had a great time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
The trip was just as described, Gustavo was a great host and very knowledgeable. The Cenote was amazing and perfectly placed between the 2 ruin visits. Lunch was so so, but wasn’t expecting much. The day is long but expected as per the description. Pickup and drop off was smooth. Many thanks
Never had communication with tour for pickup. Waited and kind of missed the whole travel day because I was standing by to get picked up at a moments notice. No communication, no pick up, no tour, and apparently they are denying a refund and just offered a reschedule via Viator (which we could not because the next day we were leaving).
Dear Luis: The info was send via viator system and we were on time for your hotel. Still your tour will be open for one year.
Wonderful overall with the exception of how they constantly have their hand out. The Cenote visit in the Mayan village was king off a rip off as the guide said the things they were selling were hand made when you could see that they were obviously mass produced. I will say the guide knew his stuff and was very passionate about what he did.
Most everything as promised. Stop in cenote felt a little rushed- only 45 mins to change into swim clothes, rent a life jacket (50 pesos), get in and swim in the cenote, get out, dry out and change clothes back. Also they didn’t say drinks weren’t included in the buffet (bait and switch), alleging this is the same everywhere in the world. Not true, just the day before I was at a buffet from another activity with drinks included. However, everything else was organized and professional
We loved the Cenote and the Places we saw were a good Thinge too. Everything on One day! Easy! Thank you Jimmy;-)
