Description
Cook Island, a short boat trip from the Gold Coast, is an accessible and appealing dive site for all experience levels. A colourful and interesting mix of reef and pelagic fish call Cook Island home: pufferfish, gropers, surgeonfish, anemonefish, leatherjackets, parrotfish, trevally, bullseyes and sweetlips are some of the most common residents. Photographers will find plenty of photogenic subjects, with nudibranchs, stingrays, turtles, wobbegongs and even leopard sharks over summer.

My husband I tried the scuba at Cook Island. Our instructor Mikel was excellent (funny and also patient). I panicked a bit once we got in but he calmed me down so we could try again and made sure we could enjoy the experience. Lots to see, turtles, fish, rays etc. The facilities and equipment were well maintained. We would definitely recommend the experience and will contemplate doing more courses with this company.
The staff at Gold Coast Dive Centre were fantastic and the double dive at Cook Island was some of the best I’ve ever done. Clear water and amazing fish, sharks and the Green Turtles(of course). Numerous encounters with these gentle giants. Congratulations to Mikel and his crew for providing such a safe, enjoyable and relaxed experience. I’ll do it again when I’m next on the Gold Coast. great experience, nice and easy exit from the water with a staircase at the back of the boat, sausage sizzle in between dives, really hit the spot I will be diving with this company again.
Diving instructors were great however communication before and on the day was more than average. We were not communicated the pick up time so had to grab an Uber to go there, and drop off was eventually not available…in prep for departure only 1 out of us 3 were provided with equipment so that these 2 had to wait on boat for a group to come back from their dive so they could get some gear from them… Dive was great but the whole experience could have been smoother
Try SCUBA diving: Phenomenal experience! An exhilarating boat ride with Skipper Ruben and an amazing time with Mikel and Nacho as our guides! Very patient and encouraging and I felt safe in good hands. Saw so many beautiful schools of fish, coral and turtles! We felt so very lucky to get one on one guides today! I highly recommend it!
My partner and I did two dives at Cook Island on Sunday and loved it. Staff were all so fantastic, positive and helpful. We had a great guide, Nacho, who found us an awesome turtle to swim with! Would recommend.
