Description
What makes my truffle hunting adventure unique? It od a real truffle hunt, not just a demonstration. Guests experience authentic truffle hunting in the forest together with trained dogs. We also keep our groups small — a maximum of 10 people — to ensure a more personal, intimate, and authentic experience. Truffle is an unusual subterranean fungus. There are two important varieties of truffles: white truffle (Tuber Magnatum) and black truffle (Tuber Melanosporum). Both of these can be found in the Motovun forest located in the valley of the Mirna River. Even though truffles can be found elsewhere, Motovun truffles are considered to be of the highest quality.

Mihael was fantastic from the start. Walking through the forest with him and watching Mina and Roxy hunt for truffles was so much fun. The dogs were amazing to watch and really made the experience special for our family. What we loved most was how authentic and personal everything felt. Mihael clearly has a real passion for truffle hunting and was happy to explain what the dogs were doing and teach us about truffles and the traditions of the area. And then came the lunch—absolutely amazing! It was also such a pleasure to meet Mihael’s mother at lunch. She was so warm and welcoming, and it made the experience feel even more personal. The food was delicious and generous, and the views were absolutely amazing. Sitting there enjoying a wonderful truffle lunch while looking out over the Istrian countryside was something we won't forget. Suggest booking and making a day of it. Do the truffle hunt, definitely include the lunch, and then spend some time touring Motovun afterward. You'll be parked in an ideal spot. It was a perfect day and one of our favorite experiences from our first trip to Istria. Highly recommended!
What a great activity to do that! We made a very interesting walk led by guide Michael on one of the hottest days of the year. The absolute highlight was working together with his two nice dogs, Roxy and Mina, who tried very hard. With success, because we have found some beautiful truffles! Michael is a very nice guide; his explanation was very clear, pure and sincere. You can tell from everything that he has passion for his profession. If you are looking for an authentic truffle hunt, you should definitely book this tour!

Wonderful experience Michael was a fantastic guide and provided an excellent experience of truffle hunting. Michael explained the whole process of truffle hunting. The dogs found black snd white truffles in the forest. The experience with Michael and his dogs were was perfect. The hunt is perfect for families or a group!
Well worth a visit to Motovun and experiencing truffle hunting. Our guide, Mikhail, was fantastic! Watching the dogs find the truffles and learning about the procews was unique and a highlight of our Istrian trip. Highly recommend.

What a great morning! The hunt for truffles was fun—the dogs were hysterical to watch—-they were so goofy, then focused once they got the truffle scent. One of the best parts of the adventure was our lunch afterwards. Mihael’s mom was a superb cook and hostess. Bruschetta with truffle cream spread and shaved truffles that we had foraged that morning started the meal, followed by pasta, fresh bread, and little donuts topped with chocolate and grated truffle. Yum! Great adventure.
Mihael and his clever truffle hunting dogs Mina and Roxy took us on an unforgettable experience into the Istrian forests to hunt for the elusive black summer truffles. Mihael was so happy to share his vast knowledge about truffles and his family’s passion. Once the doggies had sniffed out various sized truffles it was time to jump into Mihael’s car and head up into the ancient town of Motovun - right to the top - where his mum had prepared a FEAST of truffle deliciousness for us to enjoy! Sitting under pretty vines on their family home verandah, with an incredible view of the valleys below was a delight. The food was plentiful, generous and utterly delicious. Washed down with homemade grappa and wine, we couldn’t have been more spoilt. I can HIGHLY recommend this once in a lifetime tour!
One of the coolest experiences we've ever been lucky enough to do! Mihael and his mom were amazing hosts, and we loved exploring the woods with Roxy and Mina and enjoying a fantastic lunch with the best view. Could not recommend enough!
