Begin your 7-8 hours southwest scenic tour with a hotel pick-up anywhere in Mauritius. You will meet & be greeted by our certified guide and after boarding to your comfortable vehicle, then set off for your first stop.   You'll be heading to Trou Aux Cerfs which is one of the famous natural tourist attractions in Mauritius. The dormant volcanic crater is around 605 meters above sea level, with a diameter of 350 meters & a depth of around 100 meters. Unlike the typical volcanic features, Trou aux Cerfs’ crater is surrounded by a vast area of lush forest consisting of indigenous plant species and some giant green pine trees. It is believed that the Trou aux Cerfs erupted once and has remained dormant for the last 700 000 years; experts believe that there is a potential chance for it to become active again. Definitely, one of the main highlights is the 360-degree view of the town, Curepipe & the majestic view of Rempart Mountain, Trois Mamelles, and the Port-Louis- Moka mountain range.

30 min

Afterward, head to Mare Aux Vacoas reservoir which has the honor of being the largest reservoir on the island with a capacity of almost 26 million cubic meters and is simultaneously a rather popular stop for tourists visiting the south of the island. It is the perfect place to spend a relaxing few minutes away from the usual hustle and bustle of the country. The reservoir even offers a rather amazing view worth several clicks.

However, fear not about your doom, at Grand Bassin you will find the Hindu God Lord Shiva, smiling and as peaceful as ever. The statue is 33 meters high & is the highest known statue in Mauritius. Ganga Talao is a major draw of crowds in Mauritius, with many people visiting the site to pray, meditate, or simply to walk by the lake and enjoy the gorgeous surrounding views. Bad rain didn’t stop a good experience.

We had a private tour which was unexpected but a lot better. Yash the driver was very informative. Even the weather (rain) didn’t dampen our spirits

Operator response

Thanks for sharing your experience! We're so happy you enjoyed the private tour—it definitely makes the day even more special. Yash will be delighted to hear your kind words. And we're glad a little Mauritian rain couldn't wash away the fun! Hope to welcome you back again soon. 🌴😊

Starting with Kavi, our...

Starting with Kavi, our tour guide - He was knowledgable, very friendly and the bits of the tour where he guided us, and during the car journey to the various places, these were fantastic! The secondary experiences of the tour were what let us down. 1. The tea tasting - We were only showed how to brew a cuppa, but no time was spent by people at the tea factory to talk through the teas, different types, about the tea estate, and it was just left for us to do this ourselves. It was a more 'pour your own tea experience' 2. The Rum tasting - Again the staff at the Rum factory did not talk through the history of the estate. It was more of a which rum would you like to taste - here you go, type of experience, akin to ordering shots at the bar 3. The Coloured Earth - This was the biggest let down for us. From the description on Viator, it states entry is included to see this at Vall-e Park. We felt this was misleading. To actually see the coloured earth here, it's either a 2 hour walk from the entrance which is free, or you have to take a buggy or quadbike to see it which ranges from around £60 GBP to £100 GBP on top of the tour price. Given this activity was pre lunch, at it was already past 12:30pm, we opted to miss this, as we're getting hungry by this point and went straight to lunch instead. I think in general the tour is overpriced, but having looked at all options prior to booking, this was on the cheaper end, but overall disappointed.

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your day with Kavi and appreciated his knowledge, friendliness, and guidance throughout the tour. We will be sure to pass along your kind words to him. We are sorry to learn that some of the experiences did not meet your expectations. Your comments regarding the tea and rum tastings are appreciated, and we understand your preference for a more guided and informative experience at these venues. Regarding Vallé, we are sorry for any confusion caused. Access to the park is included; however, some activities within the park, such as buggy and quad bike rides, are optional extras managed directly by the venue. We will review the tour description to ensure this is communicated as clearly as possible. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. It helps us improve the experience we offer our guests, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Mauritius in the future.

Mauritius: Paradise Perfected

*Mauritius: Paradise Perfected My impregnable yearning to explore the long-cherished elusive destination kept bubbling up from the meandering morass of indecisive procrastination till I, along with my spouse, zeroed in on this coruscating gem in the Indian Ocean -- Mauritius. For years, the allure of this island paradise tantalised my senses, fueling an unrelenting dream to escape to its shores and surrender to its serene beauty. The allure of Mauritius' pristine beaches, lush forests, and enchanting ambience has captivated my soul, making it an irresistible rhapsodic destination. Father of American literature, Mark Twain, famously said: “Mauritius was made first, and then heaven. And heaven was copied after Mauritius.” When I first set eyes on this far-flung island in the Indian Ocean, I immediately agreed that it is heaven on earth! Mauritius, the celestial archipelago, unfurls its majestic splendor like a tapestry of turquoise and emerald, intricately woven by the divine hands of nature. Here the time stands still, and the soul finds solace in the embrace of nature's splendor, where every moment is a testament to the magic that awaits in this tropical paradise. As we step into Anelia Resort, our ephemeral abode for seven days, we were enveloped in a tranquil oasis that seamlessly blends luxurious elegance with rapture-inducing tropical charm. The spacious lobby boasts soaring ceilings, adorned with intricate wooden carvings and majestic chandeliers that refract warm golden light. Plush furnishings in soothing hues of cream and beige invite relaxation, while vibrant artwork and lush greenery inject pops of colour and vitality. Each room at the resort is a serene retreat, thoughtfully designed to harmonise modern comfort with island inspiration. Walls adorned with soft, creamy hues and accented with warm wood tones create a cozy ambiance. Plush beds, draped in crisp linens and adorned with vibrant tropical prints, beckon restful slumber. Private balconies or patios offer breathtaking views of the turquoise ocean, lush gardens and sparkling pool. This enchanting island nation beckons travelers to indulge in its mesmerising landscapes, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality. As the warm golden sand whispers secrets to the shore, the majestic beach surroundings of Anelia Resort unfold like a canvas of serenity. Nature's masterpiece, crafted with precision and passion, beckons to surrender to its allure. Swaying palm trees, adorned with emerald leaves, stand sentinel along the shoreline, their gentle rustle a soothing serenade. While admiring this stupendous scenic resplendence, one tends to get immersed into the cornucopia of joie de vivre! As the day succumbs to dusk concurrent to the sun down, the sky transforms into a kaleidoscope of warm incandescent hues – a breathtaking sunset spectacle! From the welcoming smiles to the solicitous gestures, every interaction was a testament to the resort's commitment to excellence. Anelia Resort has truly exceeded our expectations, providing a luxurious and memorable experience. The culinary team's creativity and attention to detail impressed us to the hilt, with each dish showcasing the perfect blend of flavours and presentation. The variety of continental and local cuisine catered to our tastes. Blessed by Epicurus, we indulged our senses in a gastronomic journey where culinary mastery meets tropical bliss. Beachside alfresco dining offers fresh seafood, impeccably prepared to highlight the day's catch. Lip-smacking grilled fish infused with herbs was visually stunning and delectable to savour.

Fantastic Guide, Busy Schedule

We had a really enjoyable all-day trip, and a big part of that was thanks to our guide, Radhika. She was friendly, engaging, and brought a great sense of fun to the day. Her energy and knowledge made each stop more interesting, and she created a relaxed and positive atmosphere throughout. That said, the overall itinerary felt quite rushed. There were simply too many activities packed into the day, which made it difficult to fully enjoy each location. When we added up the suggested time at each stop, it came to the full 8 hours we had with the guide, without accounting for travel time between locations. This made the schedule feel unrealistic and a bit pressured. We would strongly suggest that the agency consider reducing the number of activities so that guests can spend more meaningful, relaxed time at each place. Factoring in travel time would make the experience far more enjoyable and less rushed. Overall, a fun day with a fantastic guide, but the itinerary would benefit from a more balanced and realistic schedule.

Operator response

Thank you for sharing this thoughtful feedback 🌴 We’re so glad you had a great day with Radhika—she’ll be delighted to hear your kind words about her energy and knowledge! We completely understand your point about the itinerary. Your comments on timing and travel are very helpful, and we’ll definitely review this to create a more balanced and relaxed experience. Really appreciate your insight, and we hope to welcome you again for an even smoother day 😊

Great guide, but an overly rushed Itinerary

We had an all-day tour with our guide, Radhika, and I want to start by saying that she was absolutely great! She was friendly, fun and knowledgeable, and did her best to keep everything organized and enjoyable throughout the day. However, we felt that the overall itinerary of the tour was not very realistic for the amount of time available. There were simply too many stops planned, which made the experience feel rushed. Because of this, we didn’t have enough time to properly enjoy the views or fully explore the different locations. We would suggest reconsidering the number of attractions included in the tour. Fewer stops would allow for a more relaxed pace and a much more enjoyable experience overall. Thank you again to Radhika for her effort and professionalism. She truly made the best of a very tight schedule.

Operator response

Thank you for your detailed feedback 🌴 We’re so happy to hear Radhika made such a great impression—she’ll really appreciate your kind words! We also truly value your comments about the itinerary. We aim to showcase as much as possible, but we understand it can feel rushed. Your suggestion makes perfect sense, and we’ll review this to create a more relaxed, enjoyable pace. Hope to welcome you again for an even smoother experience 😊

The price of the tour is disproportionate to the actual content

We were disappointed with the content of the tour. - The visit to the tea plantation. We were seated at a table to try tea, which we had to do ourselves. No one explained the plantation/tea production process, even though the tour website lists this as an activity. -a driver who as soon as possible wanted to go a sleep, while waiting for us/stopped at a liquor store. We had to wake him twice up when we came back - Adventure park. To reach the colored stones and the waterfalls, we were strongly urged to rent a quad bike/buggy for at least 50 euros. We were told it would be at least an hour and a half of walking through the park. I have a bad knee, and we considered doing this. We found this very odd, considering your tour was supposed to be all-inclusive. These costs aren't listed anywhere on Tripadvisor. In the end, we walked anyway, and it turned out to be only 45 minutes (with rest stops). Such additional costs should be listed on the website. - Rum tasting. It's essentially the same story as the tea plantation. We were supposed to get a full tour and an explanation of the distillation process. Instead, we ended up standing at a bar like teenagers taking shots of rum without any further explanation. Questions weren't answered, and within five minutes we were out. The price of the tour is disproportionate to the actual content of the tour. Much to expensive. We wrote a complaint about this and received no reaction

Operator response

Thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry your experience didn’t meet expectations—this is not the standard we aim to deliver. Your comments about the tea visit and rum tasting are noted; both should include proper explanations and interaction, not just tastings. We will follow up with our partners on this. Regarding the driver, this is very concerning and not acceptable. We are addressing this internally as it goes against our service standards. For the adventure park, we understand your frustration. The park does offer optional quad/buggy access, but walking is absolutely possible, and this should have been clearly explained without pressure. We will review how this is communicated to avoid any confusion. We’re also sorry to hear you did not receive a response to your complaint—this is not the experience we want for our guests. Please feel free to reach out to us again directly so we can properly follow up and make this right.
