Great tour host! Spoke everything in Spanish & English. Tour covered a lot of area and some gorgeous terrain. Excellent and efficient way to see El Chalten on a short timeline.
Excellent walk to know the capital of trecking in southern Argentina. We went for the day from Calafate with the operator Prestigio. Very respectful of the schedules, with a very attentive guide that tells stories of the fauna of the place and anecdotes of mountain climbing in the Fitz Roy and in the towering peak by the rugged and covered walls of ice. We had a splendid day of sunshine and could see the snow peaks all the time. From the route, from the village and in the trecking we did. I loved climbing the condor viewpoint. Besides the mountain you can see those majestic birds flying beneath you. Tremendous!!
El Chalten Full-Day from El Calafate with Lunch is an excellent day tour of EL Chalten from El Calafate. We were able to see the Andes Mountains, a waterfall, and condors. We also encountered the first snow of the season. Although we booked late (the day before the tour), the tour was able to accommodate my vegetarian requirements for lunch.
A very nice excursion but, the one that fell to me, I thought it was badly planned. Two hikes are made, one to the Chorrillo, of low demand and another to the Mirador de los Condores of medium demand. The ideal would have been to first make the one of El Chorrillo that can be made by all and then give option to tour the town, which is beautiful, to those who are not physically able to make the other. Unfortunately it was done backwards and I could not make the climb to the Mirador or tour the picturesque village.
If you have little time it is advisable to tour, I went in May and it was snowy, I hiked to Laguna Capri. Wear a lot of coat and gloves. If you have time it is advisable to stay, I came back in November and stayed 4 days.
Would not repeat or recommend this booking for the following reasons: 1. this tour is a combination of three different services. There’s those who are going for one day with the hopes of hiking. There is another group that split off with the guide and we never found out what kind of tour they were doing. And normal transfers between the two towns for people who are being dropped off at separate hotels. this means that a lot of time is going to be wasted, picking and dropping off people. we were promised pick up at 7:30 AM and we left town around 8:30 AM. this is important, because if you really wish to do a decent hike in El Chalten to see Mark Fitzroy from the viewing point, you do need a good amount of time and this chews into it. we left El Chalten 5pm. 2. The tour states there’s an “expert trekking guide“ to help us choose the right trail. We had no one! the English-speaking guide left about 10-15 minutes prior to final drop off point with the another group. We were left with the driver who spoke no English. We had to get help from a store owner to tell us where is the hiking trail and roughly how long it will take. 3. The box lunch is just a ham sandwich and a small bottle of water. If you don’t eat meat , they’re just gonna put a slice of cheese and a tomato in there. We threw it a away and bought food after a short hike. there’s plenty of restaurants there. this was basically an expensive transfer service between El Calafate in El Chalten. I recommend either renting a car or getting a private car to take you directly there early so you can have enough time to trek all the way to the lake where you can have a great viewpoint of Fitzroy. On this tour you have a maximum of four hours of free time which is not enough.
Must-see for anyone in good physical condition. Wonders of nature, combined with caring, trained and reliable staff.
¡Hola Pablo! Muchas gracias por tus comentarios. Nos alegra que hayas pasado un lindo día en El Chalten!!
A unique experience, all divine, we played a loving guide with fast pace but super well. It's long and it's not for people who aren't in good physical condition.
¡Muchas gracias por tus comentarios y por compartirlo con otros viajeros! Nos alegra saber que has pasado un lindo momento. Saludos cordiales, Tangol
This was not listed as the hike that you could take in a day but thanks to some good reviewers who explained that you could even stay in the town of El Chalten for the day, we decided to take this trip and we are glad we did. They picked us up promptly and were very organized as we had to pick up people in many parts of El Calafate. The driver (Alejandro) and our guide (Juan) were very professional and seemed to enjoy giving us this tour. The day was beautiful. When we left they explained to us that the long hike could not be done for the return in the evening but there was shorter 5 hour hikes, plus some people were just paying for the trip up to the town of El Chalten to stay and hike for a few days. The trip through the steppes of Argentina was very interesting and never boring. Many animals and interesting facts and stories from Juan. During the trip out and back we were well informed and taken care of. Since we are active but older we were very happy to take the shorter hike and return the same way seeing views of the river, forested areas and mountains. Really beautiful and we were thrilled to see Fitzroy early and as we drove closer to the town. Unfortunatly the town does not have views of the mountain and is not charming, mostly full of places to stay while hiking and an assortment of places to eat and get postcards etc. Since we did the short hike they gave us a sack lunch to take with us. There wasn't a guide but it wasn't needed. The trail is easy to find and follow and there were enough people around. All around a memorable day!
Awesome tour! Pick up was on time and the guide made sure everything run smoothly. Drop off was in a restaurant close to the entrance of the park. I LOVED the free time to hike on my own pace! There are several trails to choose and the views are stunning! Meeting point to go back to El Calafate was at the tour office building a bit far from the entrance of the park, giving you the opportunity to see the town with lots of restaurants, bars and souvenirs shops.
