One of the most remarkable aspects of this journey is the scenic drive that meanders along the picturesque shores of Lake Balaton, which holds the distinction of being Central Europe's largest freshwater lake. As you traverse this route, the lake's serene beauty unfolds before your eyes, offering a tranquil backdrop that is unparalleled. This stretch of the journey is not just a route, but a memorable experience, allowing one to connect with the natural world in a profound way. The picturesque landscape, with its captivating views, serves as a reminder of the tranquility that nature can provide, setting a serene tone for the day ahead.
Zagreb, a city whose origins stretch deep into the annals of Roman history, stands as a testament to the rich tapestry of cultural and historical marvels that have shaped its identity over the centuries. As you meander through the winding, cobbled lanes of the Upper Town (Gornji Grad), you are walking on paths that resonate with the echoes of bygone times. Here, every stone underfoot and every shadow cast tells a story of ages past, weaving a narrative of the city's enduring legacy. A must-visit landmark within this historical heart is the iconic St. Mark's Church, celebrated not just for its spiritual significance but also for its distinctive and colorful tiled roof that depicts the medieval coats of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia, and Slavonia, alongside the emblem of Zagreb. This architectural masterpiece serves as a vivid reminder of the city's artistic heritage and its historical importance in the region.

It’s about 3.5 hours drive from Budapest. Our awesome driver showed up on time and accommodated all our requests. We loved him. At Zagreb, we’re handed to a local guide, Kristina. She was wonderful. She took us on a walking tour through the two old cities explaining historical events. Most of the old churches were closed because of restoration works after the earthquake of 2020. Don’t miss the Museum of Broken Relationships!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! We're delighted to hear that your driver and Kristina made your journey from Budapest to Zagreb so memorable. It's wonderful to know that the walking tour through the old cities met your expectations, even with the restoration works.
We enjoyed our tour mainly thanks to our wonderful guide IVA! She was so friendly, flexible to our needs and made it so fun and exciting. We had sufficient time to see the main sites and taste some local food and drink. Thank you so much Iva!
