Our guide for the actual day tour to Machu Picchu was Victor. Highly recommend him. A local in the area and his 20 years experience provided an incredible day. He even brought along a book for this site to help see and understand the true history of this incredible place. Victor, thank you for an unforgettable trip and your passion was wonderful.
Our trip to Machu Picchu was an incredible trip. We booked this trip last minute and understood the possibility of how difficult it could be to get tickets as this is such a high visited area. Our guide - Nixon provided us with such diligence, that we did get tickets for a great day and great time. We had to be flexible for 2 days to get them which was no problem. They also provided a very detailed itinerary with pictures to assist with all the steps in this vacation. There are a lot. So we had no worries on what to do and what was next to come. They provided fabulous people to help us all the way! Thank you so much.
Excellent guide, very knowledgeable and good communication
Mega Expeditions went above and beyond with this tour. Not only did they prepare me beforehand with a Zoom call, but they guided me through the process every part of the way. Mega Expeditions was very organized and communicative throughout the process and the price for the tour was more reasonable in comparison to other companies. My tour guide Paul Alexander Calsina Acuña was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and provided me with alot of wisdom about the history of Machu Picchu upon arrival.
Nixon was an absolute delight to work with normal journey itinerary planning and and when our flight plans change ,he is super delightful to work with to change and shift things around last minute to make the trip enjoyable still. We were a big group of 21 and he managed the trip really well and the guides were delightful to work with especially victor at machu pichu with his passionate story telling and Miegul at Cusco city and sacred valley with absolute energy to explain .If you want your trip to go smoothly,Mega Expeditions is the place ,hands down"
Excellent tour, especially by our guide Diego who explained everything found in Machu Picchu and also gave us excellent recommendations in the village
I did a private tour with my guide, Victor, and it was unforgettable. Circuit 3 is a must for history buffs—packed with fascinating insights that brought the past to life. Truly an awesome experience 🙏🏼. Approved by OutdoorZone.ie
From start to finish Nixon and Victor provided a world class experience!Mega Expeditions was an unforgettable experience
This was a wonderful - beyond words experience. The tour starts super early - 3:30am pick up but it’s worth it. Taxi to the bus, quick and easy. Bus to Aguas Calientes comfy and quiet. You have very little time at the train station. My recco is make your way to where the actual train will depart. There is coffee and snacks at other stands. And there is a restroom on the train. Similar to a plane. Great communication with your guides through What’s App - even checking in on us periodically through the day. I had no issues with Altitude sickness but my wife did in Cusco. She was fine at Macchu Picchu though. We had someone meet us at the train (sign with our name)and walk us to meet our guide - JULIO 👑 he was a great guide kept us a good pace. Offered to take our photo and even a few selfies. Don’t try to navigate on your own. Book this tour!
Absolutely ridiculous experience, we got up at 3am and travelled all day to come here only to find out that we have to wait in line for hours upon arrival after which you are told there are no tickets. We then had to get back to the ticket office at 9pm to try get a ticket for the next day, whilst the tour company managed and was helpful in arranging everything. There is absolutely no guarantee that you will be able to see machu pichu. The whole thing just seems like a scam, some people are staying about 3-4 nights to try get a ticket and seems like they eventually do but it really ruins the whole experience. I would advise to only go if you have an actual confirmed ticket and read the fine print, otherwise you are wasting your money, it costed us 750 pounds and we saw nothing, and we don't get any refund as we "used the services". Atleast our tour person turned up to somewhat help, some people didn't even have that. There were also strikes the next day which we had heard a bit about the night before from other tourists but were not sure, we had to ask the tour operators ourselves and were not informed first. This feedback is also generally for those wanting to see machu pichu, ensure you have extra days either side as things change very quickly and it seems very chaotic. When waiting in line for the ticket any announcements made about tickets were only in Spanish so you are often left wondering what is going on. We met a lot of tourists who were in the same boat as us, so I think it's the tours in general vs this specific one. Best to go if your ticket is confirmed from the start vs hoping for the best when you get there, whilst they didn't say we would 100% get tickets, we were told not to worry as there should be other options. Ultimately, we did not see machu pichu and were disappointed.
Hello Vaishnavi. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We regret that your visit to Machu Picchu did not go as expected. We would like to clarify that the situation regarding Machu Picchu tickets changed drastically on the exact day of your trip, due to new local restrictions implemented without prior notice. This is a dynamic and external issue beyond the control of any tour operator, and it affected many travelers across different companies, not just ours. Despite these sudden changes, we remained in constant communication with you throughout the process, doing everything possible to support and guide you. We offered alternative options, such as queueing for tickets the following day, and while these worked successfully for other travelers who added an extra night to their stay, we understand that your tight schedule unfortunately made this unfeasible in your case. We also want to highlight that: Your transportation, hotel, and guided assistance were fully provided as contracted. Our local staff was present to help at every step, even in difficult and unpredictable circumstances. While we never guaranteed entry to Machu Picchu without an official ticket, we were transparent about the risks and always aimed to offer viable solutions. We understand your frustration, and we wish the situation had turned out differently. However, it's important to note that many of the difficulties you faced were not caused by the tour operator, but by broader logistical and administrative issues at the site that have affected hundreds of travelers recently. Best regards, Nixon
