This is a full day experience starting at the crack of dawn and returning around 9pm. There are numerous stops to see the park’s wonders from various angles and lakes. The guide Atma was very knowledgeable and friendly, and the driver Juan was fun to talk to. The van they shuttle you around in is nice but cramped. Personally, I could have done without so many viewpoint stops and the cave, and it was kind of a bummer going the entire day without a proper meal seeing as we were gone for so long. Def pack snacks and things to keep you entertained on the long car ride, but also try to pack lightly so that you’re not too claustrophobic on the shuttle van. Def buy your park tix in advance online, it makes things so much easier! All in all, if you’re only in Punta Arenas for a couple of days and want to get a decent sense of the Torres del Paine park without having to hike it, do this! PS- they’ll take you to a souvenir shop as a rest stop for bathroom and coffee break. I would not advise to buy souvenirs there, because the Clerc and Roca stores in Punta Arenas city center sell all the same stuff and for way cheaper. I would have saved $25 or so had I bought my sweatshirt, magnets, and lamb figurine in town vs at this rest stop.
The National Park in the wider sense is terrific, but my comments relate specifically to the Milodon Cave. This is a specific place to stop and enter. There's ashort trail leading up to the (massive) cave. Lots of information boards. The story of the finding of the skin of the milodon is interesting but a bit overblown. The cave, as a rock formation, is interesting, but I thought that they were making a mountain out of a molehill with this story.
Lamentamos que no disfrutara la visita a la cueva del Milodon, dentro de nuestro tour es una parada obligada aunque el ingreso es opcional. La cueva del Milodon tiene la categoría de Monumento Natural por eso es importante para nosotros visitarla
Wind and scenery. I was disappointed that , for the first two hours from Punto Arenas, there was no information imparted. As a complete newcomer to this region, I was hoping to learn much more about the country we were driving through: something about ranching, economy, plants, birds, history etc Once we got to Puerto Natales, Gabriel was very thorough and answered all questions, While Mauricio wheeled us around the circuit. In a professional manner Pre trip information should emphasize wind protection clothing.
We really appreciate your comments on our tour so we can keep improving it.
Wonderful experience, knowledgeable and kind guides. Never felt rushed yet saw so much. Highly recommended.
Thanks for traveling with us. We're happy to know you enjoyed the tour so much!!!
