Amazing experience. Border crossing was simple, and I had the best cup of coffee ever in Guatemala! Sergio, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and had an answer for every question. Highly recommend. Tikal was gorgeous.
Wonderful experience exploring Tikal. Pickup and drop off from Belize to Guatemala was smooth. Tikal was explored about 4 hours. Lunch was very good.
It’s a long day, but completely worth it! The ruins at Tikal are so impressive. The history is fascinating. The tour, as a whole, was great. The restaurant where you have lunch was fantastic!
Our guide, Sergio, was very knowlegable and shared so much history with us. He made our group feel very welcome. The transportation was great.
A great trip seeing the sights of Tikal. Our guide Noel and driver were excellent, very knowledgeable and perfect hosts.
Confusion on Viator as the voucher said meet at the border but operator confirm they will pickup from San Ignacio hotel. You switch cars and guides at the border due to licencing issues. Belize exit tax is now 40 BZ = $20 USD but they take cards. The site is quite large similar to Angkor Wat and you need several hours to explore. The guide showed us the best routes to get to Gran Plaza and views from Acropolis Central. There are staircases to climb Temples II and Temple IV for the Star Wars shot. Nice lunch and they transfer us back to our Belize guide and vehicle at the border. I would certainly do this tour again and everything was well run.
We were connected with U-go tours when we visited Guatemala to go to Tikal. Hugo and his son run tours in Guatemala. Hugo picked us up at the border and drove us to Tikal. He arranged for our tour guide, Noel. Noel is extremely knowledgeable about the Myan culture and the archeological details at Tikal. He is also a birding guide so we got the best of both worlds. We really enjoyed his company and the birds, monkeys and of course the amazing site! The drive was very comfortable and enjoyable. On our return, he took us through the border crossing for Guatemala. Everything was easy. We will definitely reach out to U-go tours when we return to Guatemala to tour the west coast, they can arrange all the details.
Amazing tour from San Ignacio to Tikal Guatemala. You have to walk across the border and change vehicles and guide. Exit fee is $40 BZ but they accept cards. Tikal is quite large like Angkor Wat so lots of climbing. You can climb up some of the towers.
Thank you for choosing U-GO Tours and for your great feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed the smooth border crossing and your time exploring the incredible ruins of Tikal. We hope to welcome you again on another adventure in Guatemala.
We took a private tour to Tikal. I’m not the kind of person to usually pay for a tour, let alone be willing to pay a little extra for a private tour. I can’t tell you how happy I am with my decision to commit to the private tour, which, all things considered, was super reasonable. We were offered a pickup near San Ignacio but decided to drive ourselves to the border. Hugo was super communicative and made the process of figuring out parking and crossing border super easy. However, I’m super glad we listened to the advice to get there at the time he recommended, as the border crossing can be slow on the way into Guatemala. Listen to Hugo. What Hugo says goes. After crossing, we were met by Gil, our driver, who was so friendly, interesting to talk to and helpful in giving us context for the towns we went through on our drive to Tikal. And our guide, Noel, who has been exploring Tikal since he was 12, and guiding in the park for the last 15 years, gave us a perfect three and a half hour tour through the park in a route that we would have never been able to devise ourselves, let alone understand the context for what we were seeing. Again, I’m not a tour guy. I love to diy pretty much everything in all the places I go, but I couldn’t imagine having the experience I had today without the crew at U Go tours.
Thank you very much for such a thoughtful review. We’re truly glad the private tour exceeded your expectations and that our recommendations helped make the border crossing and logistics smooth. It’s great to hear Gil’s driving and local insights, along with Noel’s deep knowledge of Tikal, created a meaningful and memorable experience. Your words mean a lot to our entire team, and we sincerely appreciate you choosing U-GO Tours.
Wonderful tour with husband and my college kids. Luis was fantastic and so informed about the history. Long day but all worth it.
