Not what viatour claims it is. Disappointed. Don’t book

Not what viatour claims it is. Was told a 2 hour English speaking tour. We got there and there was confusion as to who would be our guide. At first we were told, since I speak Spanish, the tour would be in Spanish and I would translate for my husband, then another guide told us we would go with him, so we were put on a French/English speaking tour with a tour group doing a city tour that day. We were clearly the tag-alongs. Then midway through the “tour” our guide pointed us toward the boat for the 4th eye, and he continued the tour. There was barely any explanation and no history given, just him just pointing us toward steps and walking to see the eyes. Something we could have easily done on our own. I did not need to pay $70 for both of us, especially when the entrance to the park is only a couple of dollars. At the end, he got us water (which we desperately needed… would have been nice to have water in the beginning). Since viatour claimed it was a 2 hour tour (9-11), we told our driver to pick us up at 11. Well, our time ended at 9:45 and we were quickly ushered out of the park. I called the driver and he was far away, so I asked if we could re-enter the park and we were told no because the bosses from the environmental agency were there? So we waited in a hot parking lot for almost an hour. Terrible. Viatour… DO BETTER!

Operator response

Dear Allison, Thank you for your feedback. We always want our guests to have an exceptional experience, so we'd like to share some details for clarity. This tour is a shared group experience, and on that day our guide led a group of over 12 guests through all four eyes, providing detailed explanations on the geology, history, and cultural significance of the site — a tour that lasted approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. After the tour concluded, our guide remained with you while you waited for your transportation, making sure you weren't left unattended. We understand that a group setting naturally means sharing your guide's attention with fellow travelers, and we recognize this may not suit everyone's expectations. For guests seeking a fully dedicated experience, we do offer private tour options. Three Eyes National Park is one of Santo Domingo's most extraordinary natural treasures, and our goal is for every visitor to leave with a deeper understanding of what makes it so special. We're grateful for all feedback that helps us improve, and we do appreciate that you and your husband recognized our guide's effort with a generous tip at the end of the tour. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly — we'd love the opportunity to discuss your experience further. Warm regards, The Three Eyes Exploration Tour Team

You don’t need a guide

The park is a nice diversion in the city and the pools are beautiful and interesting. You don’t need a guide for this. We were in a group of 25 or so people. The guide needed to repeat everything in 3 languages and honestly there wasn’t any new info shared than what we read on the internet, though our guide was friendly and energetic. The 3 pools are directly adjacent to one another. The 4th pool is visible from above. We weren’t given the option of doing the boat to view it. I could have sworn our tour included the Columbus monument but we may have some how gotten onto the wrong tour because the group we were with were together for the day and included a drive by of the monument and continuing in to Zona Colonial. We were dropped off kindly by our guide at the monument and left to explore on our own, which suited our plans. All in all, wasn’t worth the tour price plus the Ubers we needed to get to/from on our own.

Operator response

Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback, and we're glad you found Three Eyes National Park beautiful and interesting — it truly is a special place. We'd like to share a few details that may help future visitors. Our Three Eyes Exploration Tour operates in small groups and always includes the boat ride to experience the fourth eye up close — it's one of the highlights of the visit. Based on your description of a group of around 25 people with explanations in three languages and a continuation into the Zona Colonial, it's possible there may have been a mix-up and you joined a different operator's tour. As you mentioned, you may have "gotten onto the wrong tour," and we believe that could indeed be the case. Regarding the value of a guide: Three Eyes has very limited signage throughout the park, and our guides provide in-depth geological, historical, and cultural context that brings the site to life in ways that go well beyond what's available online. It's a difference many of our guests have highlighted in their reviews. As for transportation, we intentionally keep it separate from the tour price so guests can choose the most convenient option for their plans. That said, we're always happy to coordinate trusted local transportation for anyone who requests it. We'd love the opportunity to welcome you on our actual tour sometime — we think you'd have a very different experience. Please feel free to reach out to us directly anytime. Warm regards, Guest Relations Manager The Three Eyes Exploration Tour Team

Mediocre tour

I was harassed by the tour guide, barely some information about the park, overpriced, I didn’t learn anything

Operator response

Dear guest, We take any mention of harassment very seriously, and we're sorry to hear about your experience at Three Eyes National Park. We were unable to find a booking under your name in our records for this tour. We want to point out that at the park entrance, there are independent guides who are not affiliated with our company and who may approach visitors to offer their services. This can understandably feel overwhelming, particularly for solo travelers or those unfamiliar with the local setting. Our tours are pre-booked, and our guests are met by an assigned, professionally trained guide who provides a structured experience covering the geology, history, and cultural significance of the site. We hold our team to the highest standards of respect and professionalism. If you did book with us and we've somehow missed your reservation, we sincerely want to address this. Please reach out to us directly so we can investigate and make things right. For future visitors: when you book our Three Eyes Exploration Tour, your guide is confirmed in advance — you will never be left to navigate unsolicited offers at the park entrance. Warm regards, Guest Relations Manager The Three Eyes Exploration Tour Team

Very informative. There...

Very informative. There are very few explanations in signs so having the tour guard is very helpful. Be sure to wear sneakers and be ready to walk a lot of steps.

The waters were beautiful and my tour guide (victor) was amazing. Too many people at the end of the tour trying to selle things.

Beautiful sights and your! Recommend 100%

This tour was awesome and the tour guide did an excellent job. I recommend doing the 9am slot as the park will not be as busy and you’ll really get to enjoy a beautiful piece of nature without a huge crowd.

Interesting.

Seeing the tilapia and the lakes. The tour guide was very informative and friendly. A lot of steep steps. I was not quite expecting that.
