After the Tunnel, we will visit the Olympic mountain Trebević, which hosted Winter Olympic games in Sarajevo and was a first line during the Siege of Sarajevo. During the conflict, the cemetery was among the many front lines utilized to maintain the brutal siege of the city. Bosnian Serb Army snipers used its strategic position, overlooking much of the city “to shoot at civilians in the city.” Many of the beautiful tombstones, unique in both Sarajevo and Europe, were damaged by the fighting, their elegant structures compromised by three years of heavy shelling and indiscriminate shooting.

The Yellow Fortress is one of the fortifications that made up the defensive wall around the city. Today, it offers a fantastic view of the city and is one of Sarajevo’s most popular vantage points. From here we can also see Kovači Cemetery where Sarajevo's defenders from the Siege of Sarajevo and the first president of the independent Bosnia and Herzegovina are buried.

A touching experience.

4 hours may seem long, but I assure you that with Danijela it will pass quickly. She picked us up directly from the hotel, on time, and made us relive one of the most difficult moments in Europe. A very touching experience, highly recommended.

On the trail of history

Danijela is a very nice and competent guide. She brings history to life through personal narratives. Famous SPIEGEL magazine published 2 articles about her story during the siege of Sarajevo. A real witness of history. Great recommendation! 👍
