I had a day free in Kiev before a tour of the Carpathians and as I have done most of the more obvious tourist attractions on a previous visit ,I decided to visit this open air museum just a short drive south of the city. The village was so pretty with thousands of flowers in the cottage gardens all tended by a Babooshka house proud of their own domains and eager to chip in with extra advice. A perfect day out. I would also like to say my guide ( Anastasia) was first class , with faultless English, a super bright person and a complete mine of information on the history and geography of the Ukraine , with some lovely stories.
Our tour guide was Anastasia. The open air museum was entertaining, insightful, and a great learning experience! Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave detailed explanations while relating to her own family stories. She also gave us helpful tips for the rest of our time in Kiev. Highly recommended!
I have booked several private tours with this Company whenever I have been in Kyiv; I find it to be a fascinating and friendly city, and I return whenever I can. Their tour of the huge outdoor folk museum I found to be particularly interesting. It is a collection of authentic village buildings from the different regions of Ukraine, each with distinctive architecture and traditions. Liuda was a very knowledgeable and easy-going guide, with excellent English language skills. She had an extensive depth of knowedge about the old village ways life and Ukrianian folk traditions. I was glad I booked a guide to see this folk museum; it isnt very accessible by public transport, and is so vast that if I had seen it on my own I wouldn't have known which highlights to see, and there isn't much English translation material provided. I felt I understood more about the Ukrainain traditions and national identity afer this tour with Liuda, and I recommend it very highly.
Hi, Alexander! I am delighted that you have had such a unique experience of visiting this huge open-air museum with Liudmila. I hope in the nearest future you will be able to come to Ukrainian capital again and enjoy visiting more wonderful places. Kind regards, Viktoriia
