The original Tromsø city walk with Polar Museum

Description
Discover the secrets of the City of Tromsø and our century long history with a local guide and a SMALL GROUP: Despite the maximum of 15 guests, most tours are held for smaller groups of 4-8. On this tour, we cover the area of Tromsø within the original borders of 1794. Already before the city was formally established, there has been centuries of human activity in this area. Especially the last 230 years made Tromsø to what it is today. In addition to a wealth of historical sites, we will also encounter statues, busts and murals, telling stories of the people who crafted their destiny in the Arctic. The tour includes a guided tour at Tromsø's unique Polar Museum. All regular tours on Wednesdays and Saturdays are held in English.

We signed up for this tour, but it was not clear about where to meet the group. There were two ships in port-Celebrity Apex and Viking. Your directions were for the Viking ship. We missed the tour because we did not realize we had to take a shuttle bus to the City Center to meet the group. Your directions were appropriate for the Viking ship which was docked by the City Center but not for our ship, the Celebrity Apex. Had we known the rendezvous point, we would have given ourselves adequate time to meet the group. Unfortunately we missed the tour and the museum. Please be aware of this for future bookings. You have booked a tour for Saturday, June 13. Your ship was in town on Friday, June 12th only. I believe that we are not responsible for the schedule of your ship. Regardless of this, the directions to the meeting point include the meeting point's street address, which makes it beyond clear that the tour starts at the port terminal in the city centre.
The tour was ok but our guide was not very structured. She had to refer to notes on a few occasions and seemed a bit confused about where to go next. She was sweet, but very soft spoken and we found it hard to hear her at times. Allowing an hour for the polar museum was too much. We left the tour early.
Karl was an amazing guide and told us a lot about the history and culture of Norway as well as many aspects of life in Tromsø! And the addition of the Polar museum at the end was fantastic
Tromso is a beautiful city and our tour guide, Astrid, made our visit that much more special. She was so engaging and informative. Her stories and overall information made the tour so worthwhile and unforgettable. Treat yourselves to this tour-you won't regret it.
It was such a nice and informative tour! Highly recommended to anyone visiting Tromso. The museum was good too.
Really enjoyed the experience. Had to ask a few people to see if we were in the correct building. Google maps placed us outside on a different corner. Our guide Carl, was excellent. We met up and joined people already on the tour as there has been an admin mix up and two groups had started at different places. Carl was very clearly spoken and very knowledgeable. Walked through the town, visited the library, fish tank in the restaurant and ended up at the Polar Museum. Carl guided us through the history in the museum. As we had joined the tour later, Carl continued with us and took us to the new part of town before heading back. We said goodbye to Carl at a local cafe and then made our way back. Very friendly and informative guide, would certainly listen to Carl again should we visit Tromso again.
Our guide Vilma was friendly and informative. She's definitely a local as her love of Tromso shone through. We went to the polar museum which was interesting and walked down side streets in Tromso town. Vilma pointed out old houses and their histories, fun facts we wouldn't have found out by ourselves. Well worth it. Thanks Vilma
All right, Wilma, the guide, all right. We would have preferred one in Spanish, but all but full. Very well the explanations in the museum.
It is an enjoyable way to get a feel of Tromso. Karl is a very good guide and interacted with everyone on the tour. It's a mix of history and the current culture. A highlight for me is the Polar Museum.
This was a great tour. So interesting and well worth doing. We really enjoyed the visit to the Polar Museum and our guide was so knowledgeable.
