The Hague and Delft: Private Half-Day Tour with Transfer

Description
Discover two of the most historically rich cities in the Netherlands on this half-day private tour: The Hague and Delft, with a transfer between the cities included. In The Hague, your guide takes you through the political and royal heart of the Netherlands: the Binnenhof, Noordeinde Palace, the stories of the House of Orange and much more. In Delft, you step into the Dutch Golden Age: canals, churches, pottery and the stories of Vermeer, Antony van Leeuwenhoek, and the city's remarkable history. You can do the tour in either direction. Pickup and drop-off from other locations, including Amsterdam, can also be arranged. This is a private tour. You set the pace, and if you have any special requests or an interest in a certain topic, just let us know.

Itinerary
You will start this tour in the middle of Plein in The Hague, right in the city center. There you will learn about the Father of the Fatherland, Willem van Oranje, and his role in the 80 years war: the Dutch revolt.
You will walk onto the square within the parliament complex and see the Knight's Hall. Here our guide will tell you about the significance and history of this place. With some luck, you might see some of our ministers (or prime minister) walking by!
The Hofvijver lake is situated in front of the parliament building and the prime minister's office. You will learn about the significance of this place and some funny history.
The statue of Thorbecke next to the Hofvijver is quite interesting. This statue has to do with our democracy and the father of our constitution! You will hear more about it.
This is the Champs-Élysées of The Hague. Quite a classy street! You will pass by multiple embassies, an art museum, a famous hotel, the temporary senate building, a statue gallery of the Dutch heads of states and some more interesting (royal) buildings.
You will see the working palace of the Dutch king. Based on the flag, we can find out if he is currently in the country. Let's see!
We will see the Grote Kerk ("Big Church") of The Hague. It is quite an uncommon tower. And what is that stork doing on top of it?
Another statue. This is the only head of government in the world that has been eaten by an angry mob! That sounds a bit weird, but you'll find out what happened.
After a short ride, you will arrive in Delft and enter the city. You will immediately pass by a historic site, where the Father of the Fatherland has been killed. You will learn about this.
You'll see the leaning tower of Delft. Many famous people have been buried in this church, like Johannes Vermeer and Antoni van Leeuwenhoek.
On our way down the Oude Delft canal, we will see the oldest house of Delft. It now has a heavily decorated facade, as it houses the Water Board since 1645. What is this and why was (and is) it so important?
On the market square, you will see Delft's old town hall, the New Church (with the royal grave tombs), the oldest shop in Delft, a statue of the Father of International Law and the place where Johannes Vermeer was raised.
Another church. This one is Catholic. There is something interesting about its design.
As you make your way south, you will pass by the old synagogue of the city.
Next to the old weapons arsenal of Holland, you will also see a former office building of the Dutch East India Company (VOC), the biggest company to have ever existed.

A great tour that has exceeded our expectations. We knew that Delft was beautiful already, but we had no idea that The Hague is also very charming. And of course, our guide did a good job bringing the history of both places to live. Thanks! Madelein and Joseph.
Thank you for your good review! Our guide also enjoyed the tour. Maybe see you next time.
We had a wonderful tour! Our guide was a young man from Italy who was studying international relations in The Hague, which was an interesting perspective. He went out of his way to show us exactly what we wanted to see. We took the tram from The Hague to Delft, and Delft was really worth seeing. Overall a great day.
We are happy that you have enjoyed the tour. See you next time!
Amazing tour and a great guide! He knew both cities very well and was kind and interesting. We highly recommend Robin and the tour!
Fantastic tour. Robin was knowledgeable and an overall fantastic guide. Definitely recommend this tour company for Delft, The Hauge and other areas offered.
Robin was excellent- informative and very patient with my elderly mother. He was kind enough to meet us at the train station and help us stow our luggage. Thank you!
Thank you for your review. We are happy that you have enjoyed our tour. See you next time!
What a magical afternoon in the Netherlands exploring both The Hague and the charming town of Delft on our private walking tour with our delightful guide Joris. He really brought both cities to life and was most informative on all. It was a truly memorable experience and my husband and I are already talking about going back to stay in Delft on our next trip back. Great day, tour and guide Joris : )
We have done several tours around Amsterdam and this tour of The Hague and Delft has been our favorite. Our Guide was so incredibly knowledgeable about the area and was very kind to us. We loved every minute of it. I think this tour is a must for anyone visiting the Amsterdam area
My husband and I, along with a couple of friends, really enjoyed this tour. It's a great introduction to the two cities with a friendly and humorous guide.
Robin was an amazing guide! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and prepared to give a great tour of The Hague as well as Delft. Robin was great at adapting the tour to what I wanted to see and eat. I’m hoping he puts off an 8 to 5 office job as long as possible and continues showing people around these beautiful cities. Also hoping he adds a food tour because sitting with a beer and eating bitterballen (with mustard) was my favorite part!
