Description

Experience the classic 13-mile scenic float! The Wilson to South Park stretch is the essential Jackson Hole river trip, combining mountain views with gentle water. Why this stretch? The Wilson section features famous "braided channels"—intimate waterways splitting around lush islands. Unlike the technical, turbulent sections found inside the park, this stretch offers a smooth flow for relaxation and superior wildlife viewing. It is premier habitat for Bald Eagles, with frequent sightings of osprey, beaver, moose, and elk on this designated Wild and Scenic River. Family-owned since 1971. Sit back and let Lewis & Clark River Expeditions handle the oars. Our expert guides navigate the current while you enjoy 360-degree views—from the Tetons in the north to the Snake River Range in the south. A safe, dry, and unhurried experience for ages 3 to 103. Private rafts available—please call to book!

Itinerary

15 min

Your wildlife safari starts here! Please arrive at our office 15 minutes prior to your trip departure. This gives you just enough time to check in, sign waivers, use the restrooms, and browse our shop. We recommend dressing in layers (mornings can be crisp!) and bringing sunglasses. Binoculars are highly recommended for spotting eagles! Once everyone is checked in, we board our bus for a short drive to the launch site at Wilson Bridge.

120 min

Your scenic float launches from this historic river hamlet nestled at the foot of Teton Pass. From the Wilson Bridge, you will push off for a peaceful 13-mile journey down to South Park Landing. This stretch is a local favorite because it features the beautiful "braided channels" of the Snake River but without the danger. Unlike the turbulent, technical water found inside the National Park, this section offers a smooth, gentle flow. It allows you to relax completely and focus on the premier Bald Eagle habitat and changing mountain scenery without worrying about the rapids.

Pass by

As we launch from Wilson, you’ll want your cameras ready immediately. The beginning of the trip offers the most open, unobstructed views of the Grand Teton, Middle Teton, and South Teton peaks. It is the classic "postcard moment" before we dip lower into the river channel where the focus shifts to the wildlife and the water.

Pass by

The river winds through these beautiful national forest lands, which are known as a premier nesting habitat for Bald Eagles and Osprey in the lower 48 states. Keep your eyes on the treetops as you float by!

Pass by

As the Tetons fade into the distance, the river winds along the base of the Snake River Range. These mountains offer a softer, forested beauty compared to the jagged peaks of the park, especially in the spring when snow still clings to the upper slopes. You will float through a mix of wild cottonwood bottoms and beautiful private ranches, showcasing life along the river. It is a relaxing finish to your journey on this designated Wild and Scenic River, a protected status that safeguards the crystal-clear water and native cutthroat trout habitat you'll marvel at.

15 min

As your 13-mile journey concludes, we pull into the Southpark Boat Ramp. Tucked away in the scenic southern reaches of the valley, this is our final landing point where the gentle currents of the Snake River meet the shore. Our professional shuttle team will be waiting here to assist you off the raft and help transition you from the water back to land. Take one last look at the towering Snake River Range and the wide Wyoming sky before we board the bus for the short, comfortable ride back to town.

15 min

The adventure comes full circle as our shuttle brings you right back to your car at the office. This final stop allows you to ease back into your day and reflect on the wildlife and Teton views you experienced on the water. Before you head off to your next Jackson Hole adventure, feel free to browse the shop for a unique souvenir to remember your trip by, or take a moment to chat with your guide and share a final thank you for their expertise on the river.

Relaxing Morning Float

Booked an 8am snake river float and had an excellent time. It was a very chill morning (and much needed after a long day of hiking) where our guide Mitch talked us through the local landscape and animals sightings. We saw several bald eagles, marmots, and birds. Non issue about getting wet except for a single splash (just like the company warned). Would 100% recommend this excursion. Was also family friendly as there were two families with kids ranging from 4-15.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We booked this scenic float trip on the Snake River last minute, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip to Jackson! The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and we were fortunate to see several bald eagles along the river. Our guide was fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the area. Not only did he help us spot wildlife, but he also shared fascinating stories and history about Jackson and the surrounding region, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The float was relaxing, family friendly, and offered incredible views of the Tetons. Everything was well organized from start to finish. If you're visiting Jackson and looking for a memorable way to experience the beauty of Wyoming, we highly recommend this scenic float trip! Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

Great peaceful float

We had a wonderful time floating calmly on the Snake River. Our guide was Brennan and he was very fun and knowledgeable. The float is about 2 hours long, but allot 3 hours for your trip. Allow for time to meet at their store, and drive to and from drop off/pickup. We went at 11:15am and saw eagles and marmots. Perhaps you'll see more wildlife earlier or later in the day. I don't believe we went THROUGH the Tetons, but they were definitely visible from our boat. Brennan made sure everyone in the boat could have a view of the mountains for photos. Highly recommend.

Great Scenic Tour

The 2 hour river trip was a great experience. Everyone in the office/store was helpful. Our bus driver Wesley and our tour guide Julia made the trip enjoyable for all. Lots of information and stories. The scenery was beautiful. I wish we would have seen more wildlife, but I would say that had more to do do with the time of day we were on the river (afternoon). This tour would be great for any age.

Excellent Family Ride

Jenevieve was an excellent guide. She was so great with our young kids. She pointed out all sorts of wildlife on our scenic tour. We saw several bald eagles, marmots, pelicans, geese and beaver dams along the way. Shout out to Billy too for also laughing at our kids’ many jokes. Strongly recommend for families! It was the perfect activity for us since we have a 3 year old and that limits what we can choose to do. All 3 of our children had a great time and were engaged to whole time! At check in, we were given coloring sheets and clipboards for all our kids in case they needed entertainment during the ride. Very thoughtful and appreciated! Great experience all around!
