Itinerary
Plaza de España is the largest square in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the entire Canary Islands. Constructed in 1929 the square underwent significant refurbishment in 2006 . This renovation introduced a large artificial lake. Dominating the center of the square is the Monument to the Fallen, a 25-meter high cross-like obelisk unveiled in 1947 to honor those who died in the Spanish Civil War.
Hi friends, our itinerary will start at your pick up locatin and will continue with Playa de Las Teresitas located in the northeast of Tenerife, near the village of San Andrés and approximately a 10-minute drive from the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The beach is characterized by its golden sands and calm, turquoise waters. Originally, the area consisted of pebbles and black volcanic sand, with strong Atlantic currents making it less suitable for swimming. In the early 1970s, to create a more appealing beach, a breakwater was constructed to protect against strong waves, and approximately 270,000 tons of white sand were imported from the Sahara Desert to cover the beach.
San Cristóbal de La Laguna is a historical city in the northern part of Tenerife. It is the old colonial capital of Tenerife and the third-most populous city of the archipelago and the second-most populous city of the island after Santa Cruz de Tenerife. La Laguna’s well preserved Old Town is one of Tenerife’s two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the other one being Teide National Park. We will have an hour to wander La Laguna Old Town’s cobbled streets, admiring its grand mansions which are home to chic cafes, museums, art galleries and boutiques which are great for Canarian products shopping. After an hour of light walk we will drive up Anaga Rural Park.
Welcome to Anaga Rural Park! This land of mountains covered with laurel trees is Unesco World Heritage Site. We will visit a quiet place in the middle of the forest, away from the hustle and bustle of tourists, and admire the wild beauty of nature
OPTIONAL CANARIAN LUNCH! We can have a stop for lunch at your taste.*Not included in the whole price of the tour. A traditional lunch in the Canary Islands o might begin with papas arrugadas, small potatoes boiled in salted water until their skins wrinkle, served with two types of mojo sauces: mojo verde and mojo rojo. An excellent starter is grilled goat cheese, a local delicacy where slices of goat cheese are cooked on a griddle until slightly melted and golden brown. For the main course, carne de cabra guisada is a traditional dish featuring goat meat slowly cooked with spices, vegetables, and a touch of local wine, resulting in tender and flavorful meat. Alternatively, a mixed grill offers a variety of meats, including pork, chicken, and rabbit. Seafood enthusiasts will appreciate the abundance of fresh local fish and seafood available in the Canary Islands. To accompany these dishes a great Canarian wine is recommended!
Candelaria is an important pilgrim site and many of its visitors come to the Basilica to the shrine of the Black Madonna, who is the patron saint of the Canary Islands. On the square in front of the Basilica on the edge of the sea, the Plaza de Patrona de Canarias, there are 9 colossal statues of Guanche (Aboriginal) chiefs along the sea wall. The old town of Candelaria is pleasant and the main square has plenty of bars and nice shops. You can find some lovely wooden balconies typicals of Canarian architecture. There is also a nice promenade along the sea-front and a small harbour. You can visit the Cave Chapel of San Blas, the Basilica (if is open), have a coffee or a snack.
Los Roques is a hidden gem that offers a tranquil escape from the island's more crowded tourist areas. This picturesque village is renowned for its distinctive cave houses, structures ingeniously built into the rock formations, reflecting traditional architectural practices adapted to the volcanic landscape. These unique dwellings provide a glimpse into the island's cultural heritage and the resourcefulness of its inhabitants. Adjacent to the village lies a small yet captivating black sand beach, a characteristic feature of Tenerife's volcanic origins. The beach, is framed by impressive rock formations on either side, creating a secluded and serene environment. The dark sands contrast beautifully with the clear Atlantic waters, offering visitors a peaceful spot to relax and soak in the natural beauty of the surroundings.
You should visit Arico el Nuevo for its authentic rural charm, well-preserved traditional Canarian architecture that provides a tranquil escape from the busier coastal tourist areas. Historic Village: Arico el Nuevo has been declared a historical site, known for its traditional houses from the 18th and 19th centuries, many featuring whitewashed facades and wooden balconies. Tranquility and Authenticity Peaceful Atmosphere: If you're seeking a quiet, genuine island experience away from large resorts, Arico el Nuevo offers a serene and traditional environment where villagers often gather to chat. Local Culture: The village provides a glimpse into authentic Canarian rural life, far from the bustling nightlife and large commercial centers of the south.

We booked a tour with Theo and had a splendid experience. It was rainy in parts of Tenerife, so Theo customized our tour to visit places that were not rainy. We saw the golden sand beach and heard the story about importing sand from Africa. We enjoyed our visit to Arico very much, seeing the old town far away from tourist-centered places. The lunch of Canarian food at the Basilica restaurant in Candaleria was absolutely terrific. We would not have been able to find such a great place on our own. Weirdly, on the way to the restaurant we encountered some type of protest parade of caravans/camper vehicles. That's something you don't see every day! At the end of the tour, Theo poured us a taste of Canarian honey rum that was a delicious end to our tour.
Thank you so much for your kind words! It was a true pleasure exploring Tenerife with you.I’m so glad we were able to outsmart the rain and find those sunny spots; sometimes the best parts of the island are discovered when we drift away from the original plan! I’m especially happy to hear you enjoyed the authentic atmosphere of Arico and that delicious lunch in Candelaria—it’s always a joy to share my favorite local spots that travelers might not find on their own. That camper van parade was certainly an unexpected highlight! It’s those spontaneous moments that make every tour unique. I'm glad the honey rum provided the perfect sweet finish to our day together.I hope to welcome you back to our beautiful island again someday. Safe travels!
Book this adventure with Theo!! He was the best guide/photographer and was so pleasant to spend the day with! He truly knew so much about the history of the area. We had an amazing time and when back in Tenerife he will be our first call for another adventure!! Lunch was excellent, great pick Theo! Thanks again for sharing such a special place with us! The forest was a great place and we were so happy to get to see it, bad weather had washed the road out the week before but luck was on our side and the road was open!! I could go on all day but you really need to enjoy this excursion for yourself! You will not be disappointed!
Thank you so much for your amazing review! It was such a pleasure spending the day with you and sharing the history of our beautiful island.I’m thrilled that we got lucky with the forest road—it’s such a special place, and I’m so glad you were able to experience it in person. I also really enjoyed being your photographer for the day and capturing those memories for you! It’s wonderful to hear that lunch hit the spot and that you felt so at home on the tour.I can’t wait to welcome you back to Tenerife for our next adventure! Until then, safe travels and thank you again for choosing to explore with me.
Theo was a great guide. Despite the weather tending to rainy he struggled to make us have the best experience on the island. He showed us the Praia Teresitas, the city of Laguna and Candelaria and 2 more small villages. The highlight of the tour was the excellent restaurant for canary food tasting. Also brought us a canary rum for tasting. It was a great tour.
Hi Flavia! "Muito obrigado! It was a real pleasure to meet both couples from Brazil! I’m so happy to hear that even with a bit of rain, we managed to have a great time exploring Las Teresitas, La Laguna, Candelaria, and our secret little villages. I always believe that Tenerife’s beauty shines through any weather, and I’m glad my efforts to ensure you had the best experience paid off. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the authentic Canarian lunch and our local rum tasting—it’s always a highlight of the day! It was an honor to capture these memories for you. I wish you a lifetime of happiness together and hope to see you again in sunny Tenerife! Warm regards, Theo
Thank you to Theo for this wonderful excursion that made us full of eyes. Tenerife is by far the most beautiful island we have visited. In addition Theo partly understood French and answered us in English which facilitated communication. Thank you again for this beautiful day
Bonjour Stephen, merci beaucoup pour votre visite à Tenerife.
We had a fantastic day with Theo. He was mindful of the time (important when you’re traveling via a cruise ship) and helped us fill our limited time with unforgettable experiences. Tenerife has been our favorite stop and Theo’s expertise played a big role in that.
Hi Mandy, thank you very much for this great review! I am glad you enjoyed your private tour on Tenerife. All the best!
I must book tour when in Tenerife! It is fully customizable, and we had such a great day! My dad is 80 and bogdan was so accommodating. No stress no drama ! Why book a cruise tour when you can have a private tour with a local guide . You must visit the volcano it’s a wow moment ! I recommend 100000% ! All ages ! Can’t wait to return one day ! Thanks again !
Hi Renee! Thank you very much for your fantastic review! It is very kind of you. All the best to you and your father! Keep in touch!
This was an excellent tour and the highlight of our trip to Tenerife! Theo was the best! He combined his vast knowledge of the island with a delightful sense of humor. My husband and I really enjoyed his stories and legends. We went to some amazing places that we would never have found on our own. Theo takes time with his guests, answered all of our questions and never made us feel rushed. The camel, yes "camel" rides were a complete surprise and so much fun. The breathtaking views made for beautiful pictures. I would have given the experience 10 stars if I could but 5 stars is the maximum on Trip Advisor. Don't hesitate to book this tour. You won't be disappointed!!!
Wow! What an amazing review! Thank you very much! All the best!
Volcano tour was great very interesting with lots of stops. Enjoyed the museum. Transportation for the trip not good. Would benefit from a better vehicle with good air con. Long day. Would probably book half day without lunch if to do again. Went long way to just get lunch. Suggest skipping lunch and return home after volcano museum.
Dear Laura,Thank you for your feedback! I’m so glad you and your family found the volcano tour interesting and enjoyed the museum stops. I truly appreciate your honest comments regarding the vehicle and the tour length. As a family man myself, I understand that traveling with young children requires extra comfort and flexibility. I want to share some exciting news: based on feedback like yours, I have upgraded to a spacious vehicle to ensure every passenger stays cool and comfortable, even on the warmest Tenerife days. Regarding the itinerary, I now offer fully customizable half-day options for families who prefer a shorter experience without the long lunch break. Thank you for helping me grow and improve. I hope you enjoy the photos of your little ones exploring the volcano! Warm regards, Theo
Theo was a great guide with lots of interesting info and was very respectful of my husbands limited mobility. he took us to a great (cheap!) Canarian restaurant well away from the tourist spots with fab food. Would thoroughly recommend.
Hi Bev! Thank you very much for the review. It was a pleasure to spend a day together and I am glad that you appreciated our traditional Canarian food. Please send my regards to Chris. See you!
The first time I met Theo I was hooked. He made our tour interesting and special. I quickly hired him again for my birthday tour. He did an amazing job to attend to every aspect and make things different for our friends and my special day. We enjoyed the mountains and he stopped at the best lookouts. Then the winery was spectacular. We are ate many types of tapas and drank incredible wine while learning about the process. Theo surprised us by making a video of us pouring from the tanks. He takes extra care to do a few pics and videos and send them to us. What a special day for his first Canadian customers. Thanks Theo for making us laugh and sharing your passion for Tenerife as well as your knowledge. Just when I thought he day couldn’t get any better we had a feast at a local restaurant. This is a birthday I will never forget. I am recommending this tour to everyone and my friends coming in may. Theo definitely made my day special with a few surprises along the way. Five stars is not enough!
Hi Beth! Wow! What a great review! You are so nice! Those tours we did together were special for me too! I had the chance to meet great people and make new friends. That's the best review I 've ever had! Thanks a lot! Keep in touch. See you!
