Teide National Park: Small Group Stargazing with Astrophotography

Description
Teide National Park stands as one of the three best stargazing locations on Earth. At over 2,000 metres above sea level, with more than 300 clear nights per year and virtually low light pollution, the night sky above Teide is exceptional. Groups are kept small so every guest can look through the telescope, ask questions and receive individual attention from our Starlight-certified guides. The tour begins with a naked-eye sky orientation: constellations, bright planets, the Milky Way and the mythology behind each figure in the sky. We then move to the professional telescopes, where guests observe planets such as Saturn with its rings and Jupiter with its moons, alongside nebulae, galaxies and star clusters. A second telescope is dedicated exclusively to astrophotography: we capture real time images of the most impressive objects in the sky and send them to you as a gift. With more than 20 years of experience, we are one of Tenerife's most established astronomical operators.
Tour Options
Itinerary
1. Welcome & Sky Orientation (Teide National Park at 2,200 m) Arrive at our meeting point in Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After a short walk to the observation point, your Starlight-certified guide begins naked-eye orientation: Polaris, constellations, zodiac and visible planets. No prior knowledge needed — designed for everyone. 2. Telescopes & Live Astrophotography (Same location) Observe Saturn's rings, Jupiter's moons, galaxies like Andromeda, nebulae like Orion and star clusters like the Pleiades through professional telescopes. Small groups ensure personal attention at the eyepiece. A second telescope captures live astrophotography, images of the cosmos sent to you by email as a gift after the tour. 3. End of the tour (Meeting point) The experience concludes with a short walk back to the meeting point under the stars. Perfect time to ask the last questions under one of the three best stargazing locations on Earth.

Fantastic evening thanks to Miguel who showed us so much. He is so passionate and knowledgeable and answered every. even though i booked mainly for my hubby I really enjoyed it too. Thanks again.
Thank you for such a lovely review! We’re so glad Miguel could make the evening special for both you and your husband. His passion for astronomy is what makes our tours unique, and we’re happy you enjoyed it . Thanks for choosing Discover Experience!
I was looking forward to the Stargazing at Teide experience, but I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. It exceeded my expectations. Huge kudos to our guide, Miguel, incredibly knowledgeable and able to present complex information in a dynamic, engaging, and never boring way. He truly made the experience unforgettable.
Hello! So glad you enjoyed the experience! We'll pass your kind words along to Miguel. Thanks for choosing us for your Teide adventure! Best regards.
Engaging and struck by awe of the universe seen with help through my own eyes. knowledgeful team of scholars and with a easy accessed beautiful settings. If you have time bring a chair and a blanket to sit and enjoy the cosmos after the tour is over, i wish i had.
Dear Bruno, Thank you for the wonderful review! We are so glad our team could share the awe of the universe with you. We hope to see you under the stars again soon! Best regards.
We are very happy to have booked this activity. It is impressive how many stars you can see in the national park without light pollution nearby. Through a telescope we then looked at ua Saturn, Jupiter, the Orion Nebula and the Andromeda Galaxy. Much has been explained about what can be seen from Earth, how the constellation changes over the year, and where the differences between the northern and southern hemispheres lie. The currently visible zodiac signs (fish to lion) were also explained to us. Small shortcoming: partly accent, mixed with technical terms and you yourself banished from heaven, we unfortunately did not understand everything despite good English skills. Nevertheless, we would do this again and again and recommend. Especially beautiful are the two professionally taken photos, which we received as a reminder afterwards.
Hello! Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are thrilled that you enjoyed the dark skies of the National Park and the views of Saturn, Jupiter, and the Andromeda Galaxy. We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding the accent and technical terms. We’re always looking to improve, and we’ll work on making our explanations clearer for all our English-speaking guests. It’s great to hear you loved the professional photos! We hope they serve as a perfect memory of your night under the stars. We look forward to seeing you again!
A magical experience under the stars. Oscar was an exceptional guide I loved and explained everything with clarity and enthusiasm. The place was perfect to observe without light pollution, and the organization was impeccable. I loved the experience I would repeat without hesitation!
¡Mil gracias por la reseña! Nos alegra muchísimo que la experiencia haya sido maravillosa y que nuestro guía, Óscar, hiciera la experiencia tan especial. ¡Muchas gracias! ¡Hasta la próxima observación!
What a wonderful sky and friendly guides. Legal tour and no enrollment. I recommend! Remember to bring warm clothes and gloves, very cool!
Hello! Thank you for the fantastic review! We're so glad you enjoyed the tour and found our guides friendly. Thanks for the tip about warm clothes—it's a very important reminder for future guests!
Mount Teide is a great place to view the stars with the naked eye. I also saw 4 shooting stars. At 2,100 m above sea level you are above the clouds and the humidity is low. Having a hire car I drove myself. For 47 Euros per person, the extra you get from this experience is : * A look at 4 celestial objects through an (I'd guess 6 inch) telescope, with automatic tracking. Each person got to look at each object for about a minute. : ** A couple of globular clusters ** Andromeda galaxy - which looks like a smudge rather than a spiral that might be seen from a long exposure picture. ** Saturn, with its ring and three moons. (Looks just as you would hope and expect). * A guide describing a bit about each of the 4 celestial objects. * A bit of general astronomy info - such as size and age of the milky way, looking back in time at distant objects, where we are in the milky way, satellites, the ecliptic, how to find certain things, like the pole star, how to make the most of your eye's night vision. * A slightly greater amount of talk about constellations and mythology behind them. * Guides shining laser pointers at the stars, constellation and other celestial objects they are talking about. * Photos taken on the night of the celestial objects we looked at. Personal/family group photo with several second exposure to capture the night sky behind followed by a flash to get you in the picture. We considered the meal and sunset watch options but went to the same park instead, had a picnic and watched the sunset from above the clouds. With my time over again I'd have just gone for the free (other than cost of whatever you take) picnic, free sunset watch and free look at the night sky with my Mark 1 eyeballs. Not least as the experience clashed with a CD Tenerife home game that I would like to have watched.
Hello! We are very sorry to read about your experience. However, there is an error and this review is NOT directed at our company, Discover Experience. Some of the details you mention do not correspond to the services or experience we offer here, these are: 1. The price of 47 € per person, this is not correct, our price per person is 35 €. 2. You mention a 6-inch telescope, which is also incorrect. We use telescopes that are 10 inches or larger. 3. We think it's fantastic that you've been able to observe Andromeda. Our guides haven't observed it yet, as it's low in the sky and cannot be seen in optimal conditions. We'll start observing it when it's higher, perhaps in mid-October. 4. You mention that personal or family photos are taken with an exposure time with the starry sky in the background. This is not the case; we do not offer this service in our activities. We only offer the service with an astrophotographic telescope that takes images of some of the objects we observe, but we never take photos of the customer. 5. Regarding food, picnics, or sunsets, we do not offer these either. All our customers eat or watch the sunset on their own, then arrive at our meeting point for our stargazing tour. 6. Finally, you mention that your activity coincided with a match of CD Tenerife, the island's football team, which plays its matches on weekends, precisely when we do NOT conduct our tours. Mondays and Wednesdays are the days when we offer our astronomical observations. We understand that this may be confusing and suggest that you check the name of the company you wanted to refer to so that you can post your review in the right place. We hope you had a better experience at the place you actually visited. If you ever decide to visit us at Discover Experience in the future, we would love the opportunity to provide you with a five-star experience. Thank you
