Lake Gregory (also called Gregory Reservoir) is a manmade lake built in 1873 under British Governor Sir William Gregory originally for damming the Nanu Oya stream to help with flood control. Over time it has become a major recreational & scenic spot in Nuwara Eliya surrounded by hills, tea plantations and colonial era architecture. ▪︎Enjoy a peaceful walk around the beautiful Gregory Lake surrounded by colorful flowers and scenic nature views. We had a wonderful day tour from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. The journey was beautiful with many nice places to stop along the way. We visited waterfalls, tea plantations and enjoyed the cool weather and amazing views. Our guide Mohamed spoke very good English, drove safely and was very knowledgeable. He explained everything clearly and made the trip enjoyable. The tour was well organized with enough time at each stop. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Sri Lanka. It was a great experience and good value for money.

We had an amazing Tea Plantation day tour to “Little England” Nuwara Eliya with Pro Escapes. Everything was well arranged from start to finish and the whole trip was very comfortable and relaxing. The journey itself was beautiful, with stunning views of tea plantations, cool weather and scenic roads along the way. We also stopped at a beautiful waterfall, which made the experience even more special. One of the best parts of the tour was tasting real Ceylon tea. It was fresh and full of flavor. We even bought some for our family members, and since they are tea lovers, they were very happy and satisfied with the quality. Our guide Shaz was very knowledgeable and made the journey more interesting by sharing useful information. He also drove very safely, which made us feel comfortable throughout the trip. Nuwara Eliya truly lives up to its name “Little England” clean, peaceful and full of charm. Overall it was a smooth and enjoyable experience. Our Nuwara Eliya day trip was absolutely amazing and unforgettable. On the way to Nuwara Eliya the roads on both sides were covered with lush green tea plantations, creating a breathtaking view. We stopped several times to take photos and enjoy the cool fresh atmosphere. One of the highlights of the journey was visiting the beautiful Ramboda Waterfall a stunning and refreshing sight. We also visited a tea factory and as tea lovers, this was a special experience for us. We learned the full tea production process, saw old machinery that is still in working condition and enjoyed tea tasting with a variety of teas. The aroma and taste were excellent and truly memorable. In Nuwara Eliya we visited the famous old post office and admired the charming colonial era buildings which gave the town a unique and historical feel. In the evening we enjoyed a peaceful walk around Gregory Lake the timing was perfect and the atmosphere was simply superb. A special thanks to our guide and driver Mr. Shammy who was very friendly, fluent in English and always ready to help. His guidance and positive attitude made the entire trip smooth and enjoyable.
