Jvari Monastery is a sixth-century Georgian Orthodox monastery near Mtskheta. Along with other historic structures of Mtskheta, it is listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. Jvari Monastery stands on the rocky mountaintop at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers, overlooking the town of Mtskheta, which was formerly the capital of the Kingdom of Iberia.

Mtskheta is one of the oldest cities in Georgia, founded by the ancient Meschian tribes in the 5th century. Due to its historical significance and several cultural monuments, it is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It was the capital of the early Georgian Kingdom of Iberia from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD. However, Mtskheta continued to serve as the coronation and burial place for most kings of Georgia until the end of the kingdom in the 19th century. The Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is currently the second-largest church building in Georgia, after the Holy Trinity Cathedral. Known as the burial site of Christ's mantle, Svetitskhoveli has long been one of the principal Georgian Orthodox churches and is among the most venerated places of worship in the region. We have around 1-hour of free time in Mtskheta, which you can use for shopping, wine tasting, boat trips etc.

The Chronicles of Georgia is a monumental masterpiece overlooking Tbilisi Sea, featuring massive 30-meter-tall stone pillars adorned with intricate carvings depicting Georgia’s history, kings, and religious figures. Designed by artist Zurab Tsereteli in 1985, this imposing yet lesser-known landmark offers a unique blend of ancient and modern art. The site provides breathtaking panoramic views of Tbilisi and is a must-visit for history and culture enthusiasts.

Highly recommended

Maria was absolutely wonderful and made our entire tour such a memorable experience! She was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, patient, and professional throughout the day. She explained everything so clearly and shared so many interesting stories and details about Georgia that made each place we visited even more special. She also made sure we were comfortable, answered all of our questions, and created such a warm and enjoyable atmosphere. You could really tell that she loves what she does and genuinely cares about her guests having a great experience. We had an amazing time visiting Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Jvari, the bazaar, and the other stops, and Maria made the whole day even better. I would definitely recommend her to anyone visiting Georgia — she is an excellent guide and truly deserves 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good guide

There was a little too little free time in each place. Would have been great with an extra half hour at each destination. Our guide Dea was very nice and good.

Amazing Tour & Wonderful Guide!

We had an amazing experience on today’s tour to Jvari Monastery, Mtskheta, and the Chronicles of Georgia. Every place was beautiful and fascinating, but what made the experience even more special was our wonderful guide, Dea. Dea was extremely friendly, sweet, polite, and full of positive energy. She made the entire trip so enjoyable and comfortable. I especially loved the way she explained the history and stories behind each place—it made everything much more interesting and meaningful rather than just being a sightseeing tour. Her knowledge, enthusiasm, and lovely personality really made the whole experience even better. We genuinely enjoyed every moment of the tour and would definitely recommend this tour, especially with Dea as your guide. Thank you, Dea, for making our day so memorable! ❤️
