New view on Georgian cuisine

This was a great way of experiencing Georgian cuisine more closely. I got to make Khinkali and Khatshapuri (the dough was already prepared though) as well as several simple Georgian dishes. I was happy that I got a lot of hands on experience and wasn't just watching. The price was fair since we got a big meal out of it as well. It ended up that I was the only guest so it ended up as a 1:1 with the guide LiLo, who was very good company though.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! 😊👨‍🍳🇬🇪 We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the cooking class and appreciated the hands-on experience. We believe that the best way to discover Georgian cuisine is by getting involved in the cooking process, so we're glad you had the chance to make khinkali, khachapuri, and other traditional dishes yourself rather than simply watching. It's also great to hear that you enjoyed the meal at the end and felt that the experience offered good value. After all, tasting your own creations is one of the best parts! 😋 A special thank you for mentioning LiLo. We're happy that, even though it turned into a one-on-one experience, she made the class enjoyable and was great company throughout. Thank you for choosing Gamarjoba Georgia Tours. We hope to welcome you back for more authentic Georgian experiences in the future! 🇬🇪❤️🥟🧀✨😊

If you want an authentic...

If you want an authentic experience in a real Georgian home to learn about how to make some staples of Georgian cuisine (and then of course to eat) this is a great option. Lali, the tour guide, was delightful and spoke perfect English to help with translating.

Thank you for choosing to join us, and we hope to welcome you back for more memorable Georgian experiences in the future! 🇬🇪❤️

Home Cooking … always a winner!

We spent a great evening in a group of 6 travellers to Georgia learning how to make khinkali and khachapuri, both of which proved simpler than we thought, once you know how, and hopefully we can have a go at home. Mrs Shorena welcomed us into her home and was patient with us as she shared the techniques and our guide Ell helped translate and joined us to eat, introducing us to the concept of the supra and how to make a toast in Georgia. Would definitely recommend for extra insight into Georgian life.

Operator response

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the evening learning how to make khinkali and khachapuri, and that it turned into such a warm and memorable experience. It’s wonderful to know that Mrs. Shorena made you feel so welcome in her home and patiently shared her cooking techniques, and that Ell helped bridge the language and cultural experience while introducing you to the traditions of the Georgian supra and toasting culture. We truly appreciate your recommendation and are very happy you left with not only new skills but also a deeper insight into Georgian life. We hope to welcome you again in the future!

The Secret Ingredient Was Georgian Hospitality

I learned how to prepare several traditional Georgian dishes, tasted local wine and chacha, and heard stories about the history and traditions behind the food. It never felt like a tourist activity—it felt like being welcomed into someone’s home. A special thank you to Nana, our guide, who made the day truly unforgettable. She was warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly engaging, helping us understand not just the food but also Georgian culture and way of life. The owner of the home patiently taught us how to make these dishes. Copied her perfect khinkali technique. We all had a Georgian feast and a very engaging conversation. Loved it!

Operator response

It’s fantastic that you learned to prepare traditional dishes, enjoyed local wine and chacha, and connected with the stories and traditions behind Georgian cuisine. Nana will be thrilled to know that her warmth, knowledge, and passion helped make your day unforgettable. We're also happy to hear that you mastered the perfect khinkali technique! Thank you for your kind words, and we hope to welcome you back for another authentic Georgian experience in the future.

Fun culinary evening

I've always been fascinated by Georgian cuisine and this tour did an excellent job allowing me to see first hand how to make some of the famous Georgian dishes. Tako, the guide, accompanied me to our host's home and then we started making many dishes to be part of our later feast. Once you make khinkali, you will never again take it for granted as it is work, but tasty work at that. Everything was well organized and finished at the same time so nothing got cold. Good conversation as well at dinner and for those that enjoy drinking almost gasoline,😉, you can end the meal with chacha. My only suggestion would be to have a sweet ending available. There was more than enough food!! However, for those with a sweet tooth, it would be nice to have a little something, even if we did not make it. Highly recommend the experience.

Operator response

Thank you so much for this amazing and detailed review! 😊 We’re really happy you enjoyed the experience and got a true hands-on feel of Georgian cuisine—it’s definitely a different appreciation once you’ve made khinkali yourself! 😄 Tako will be very glad to hear your kind words—she loves creating that warm, home-style atmosphere and making the experience both fun and authentic. It’s great to know you enjoyed not just the cooking, but also the conversation and the whole evening together. And thank you as well for the thoughtful suggestion about a sweet ending—that’s a great point, and we’ll definitely take it into consideration! We truly appreciate the recommendation and hope to welcome you back for more delicious experiences in Georgia 🇬🇪✨

Highly Recommended Unique Georgian Cooking Experience!

We had the best time! The tour started with welcome wine from our lovely guide Tako, who was so fun, engaging, and open to answering all our questions about life in Georgia. We got to have a fun hands on experience cooking delicious Georgian dishes with the chef, while Tako explained everything along the way. It was such a friendly environment and we all got to enjoy the yummy meal we cooked together with some amber wine and chacha. This was complete with learning all about Georgian toasting culture from Tako. I really can’t recommend this experience highly enough if you’re in Georgia and not only want to learn about Georgian cooking, but want to share a meal with new friends and learn all about Georgia from a Georgian guide over a delicious dinner.

Operator response

Tako will be absolutely delighted to read your kind words. Her energy, openness, and ability to create a warm and friendly atmosphere really make the experience unique. It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed the hands-on cooking, the shared meal, and learning about Georgian traditions — especially the toasting culture, which is such an important part of our heritage 🍷 We love that you highlighted the feeling of sharing a table with new friends — that’s exactly what we hope every guest takes away from this experience. Thank you again for your recommendation, and we hope to welcome you back for more unforgettable moments in Georgia 🇬🇪✨

Cosy evening in a Georgian home

I really enjoyed my 3-hour food and cooking tour with Gamarjoba Tours. Even though I was the only guest that day, it turned into a very personal and memorable experience. We followed their cooking tour itinerary, preparing traditional Georgian dishes like khinkali, khachapuri, and pkhali, learning about local ingredients, spices, and cooking techniques before sitting down to enjoy the meal together. My guide, Maria, was fantastic. She was great company over dinner and shared thoughtful insights into Georgian culture, daily life, and food traditions, making the evening feel more like cooking with a local friend than a tour. A relaxed, authentic experience that I’d highly recommend.

Operator response

This is such a lovely review — thank you so much for sharing it 🧡 We’re especially happy to hear that even as the only guest, the experience felt personal and memorable. Sometimes those one-on-one tours turn into the most special evenings 😊 Khinkali, khachapuri, pkhali… you really covered the classics! And sitting down together after cooking is always our favorite part. Maria will be so touched by your words. Making it feel like cooking with a local friend rather than “just a tour” is exactly the atmosphere we hope to create. Thank you for recommending us — we’d love to welcome you back to the kitchen anytime! 🍽️🇬🇪✨
