Description

Step into the heart of Uzbek culture with a sensory-filled culinary tour in Tashkent. Your journey begins at the legendary Chorsu Bazaar, one of Central Asia’s most iconic markets. Wander through its colorful maze of stalls, sampling flavors like kurut (dried cheese balls), dried fruits and nuts while uncovering the market’s layered history—from Silk Road trade to the rhythms of daily life today. Discover the deep cultural significance of bread in Uzbekistan as you explore beautifully crafted loaves from different regions—each with its own unique shape, stamp, and story. Then, roll up your sleeves for a hands-on bread-making masterclass. Shape, form, and decorate your own loaf before slapping it to the hot walls of a traditional tandoor. Finally, enjoy the warm, fresh bread straight from the oven, paired with golden mountain honey and rich Uzbek kaymak cream—a true taste of tradition.

Family / Tashkent / market and bread baking

We had a fantastic time with Madina our guide - she nicely explained and we explored together the various parts of Chorsu market and the bread baking was simply unique experience. All very smoothly organized from beginning to end via WhatsApp / also kindly accommodating our 8yrs old getting tired by the end and adjusting tour as needed. Highly recommended - will certainly try again a different experience with them!

Don't miss this one!

What an amazing experience! Please don't miss this one. As a single female traveller, I was slightly hesitant due to the small number of reviews on TripAdvisor. I am so grateful I booked this authentic experience. My guide was Madina and it felt like I was out with family instead of being on a tour. She made everything so relaxing and effortless. She sent a photo of herself beforehand, she never rushed me, she helped get me good prices, took looks of pics of me and was an overall kind person. It really felt like family or friend taking me around the market. The nom making was a special experience. This wasn't a big and pretentious show, this was real people at work, sharing their skills. I felt honoured to be a part of it. The bread tasted fantastic. I was grateful that there was an option for collection and drop off, allowing me to feel safe getting to and from the hotel. All of the communication before and after was really helpful. I hope to come back one day and try the other tours.

Great bread making experience!

At Chorsu Bazaar, we was taken to various sections. Able to negotiate and taste things that I wouldn't have been able to do on my own, which was a very valuable experience. I learned so much and deepened my knowledge of Uzbekistan's history and culture. Thanks to the careful translation of the bread-making instructions, I was able to make it properly even though it was my first time! If I have the chance, I would like to participate with my friend!
