Such talent! The singers, dancers, musicians were all powerful performers and made it really fun. Dinner was delicious, the venue was beautiful, and although I did not get our drivers name he was so thoughtful.
Wow, I was so disapointed with this dinner show. I would give the show 3 stars because it was enjoyable, but I thought there would be more dancing. The hour show (from 10pm to 11pm) also had singers (in Spanish) and musical numbers by the band. It was very entertaining but I thought it could have lasted longer. Now for dinner. It deserves ZERO stars!!!. The steak was so tough you could not cut it. To try and chew it was almost impossible. As you looked around at the other tables everyone with a steak was sawing away on it without much luck. This was definitely not the famed Argentine beef that people talk about. It was a thin, cold piece of grissel disguised as a steak. Also all the food was luke warm and had no taste to it. Very disappointing meal, definitely not worth the $214 we spent on the experience. Try another dinner show!
We have been to BA Argentina several times and always fInd a new Tango show to enjoy. On this trip we decided to go to the Tango Piazzola show on Florida Avenue. In general we were very satisfied with our choice. The Tango theatre is in a beautiful old building. From the street level you go down the marble staircase to the lower level. Upon entering the theatre there is a large ballroom where the tables are set-up for the general dinner and show. Along the perimeter are the higher priced VIP booths. Before the show they had two dancers who give a very basic tango lesson. While we really did not want the tango lesson one of the dancers coaxed my wife and I to join the lesson. I’m glad I did. At the tango lesson we introduced and met the other people there for the dinner and tango show. It made for a more enjoyable evening because we were now all friends. After some photos together we went into the ballroom for dinner. The menu has options to meet everyone’s need. There are vegan options for those so inclined. Appetizers included empanadas, salads and soup. We ordered the empanadas and was surprised to have two which were delicious. The table next to us had pumpkin soup. For entries we ordered the steak. It was cooked perfectly and came with potato wedges. We really enjoyed our steak. For desert my wife had the mousse cake with “American Cream” ice cream and I had the marscapone cake (delicious.) The dinner included wine, beer or soda. We had nice bottle of Malbec wine. There was too much food and we decided to each take back to the hotel one of the empanadas. Fernando, our server, packed up the empanadas for us. The dancing, singers and musicians really were wonderful. The show was one-hour and was very entertaining. If you are into photography there is no problem taking photos during the tango show - WITHOUT FLASH (be considerate.) So that was all the good stuff for our visit to Tango Piazzola. The negative that almost ruined the evening was the transportation from our hotel to the theatre. We were told that the transportion would pick us up at 7:30pm. No, they picked us at 7:00pm which was fine as we were already in the lobby. However, then we rode around BA for over an hour picking up other people. Even that might not have been so bad except people weren’t ready when the transportation arrived at their hotel. The van waited while people were getting dressed or whatever they were doing. But they were not ready. The driver of the van wanted to leave but the escort refused. If I do Tango Piazzola again I will take a taxi and ask the driver to come back at 11:00pm to take us back. I thought it was torture to sit in the van and wait for the inconsiderate people. As soon as the show ended we were told the van was waiting so we rushed outside to find the orher people were still inside probably having coffee which we did not have because the van was waiting. We also realized our hotel was five minutes from the show had we walked. On the return trip to our hotel we again drove around dropping people off. Was this the best Tango Show we ever saw in BA - NO. But this show, Tango Piazzola, did not disappoint us.
