No show.

The provider did not show up and did not provide any prior notice that he was not coming. Very disappointing. We could have organised a different provider had we had advance notice.

No visits

We waited for the guide in vain. It seemed serious, but no one came. It's disappointing and not serious at all. I therefore do not recommend and hope to receive a full refund.

Excellent

Kareem was so kind and knowledgeable. My husband was a little nervous to leave Spain and enter Morocco, but Kareem immediately made us feel welcome. We felt like we were saying good bye to a good friend at the end of the tour.

Operator response

Excellent Tangier Tour!!!

We spent a lovely afternoon in Tangier with Kareem! He and his very adept driver took us on a driving tour of the city, showed us some incredible outlook points, helped us on a hilariously fun camel ride, and then Kareem took us for a walking tour around the Medina. Kareem knew everyone, and we felt safe and accepted with him, like we were walking around with a friend who knew who everyone in the neighbourhood. Kareem then took us to a fantastic little restaurant where we ate great food, and when we told him we wanted to buy some things for our kids, he made sure we had time to do some shopping at some pretty neat stores. It was an awesome day! Thank you Kareem! I can’t wait to make my YouTube video about our day and share it with you so you can see for yourself how much we loved your tour!

The Entire Tour Felt Like A Scam

On October 27th 2024, We were very excited to visit Tangier and crossing Africa off on our bucket list. The day began with our ferry being delayed by 2 hours from Tarifa. I contacted our guide Karim about this and he said he was flexible and it wouldn’t be a problem. I have proof of this interaction through our messaging. I felt bad at first, but felt comfort in knowing he was willing to work with us. When we arrived in Tangier, Karim met us with a sign with my name which was nice. He then showed us a couple of sights and quickly took us through the market which I found very interesting. I was eager to buy some things, but Karim insisted we keep moving for the sake of the tour and we could come back later. We visited the Medina as was listed on our itinerary. We then took a stop at one his friends shops who was an herbalist. This stop was not listed on the itinerary. The herbalist seemed very knowledgeable. His friend then tried to sell us many items mainly infused oils, which I felt were overpriced. I wanted to look around the store, but was given the vibe that I couldn’t and should buy the oils. I insisted on buying fresh turmeric for 5 euros which was very affordable. The oils we were sold were 3 bottles for 80 euros. We bought several bottles and moved on. Thinking we were going to other places on the itinerary we were then taken to a carpet store. The owner of the carpet shop was friends of Karim. The carpets were beautiful but not close to our price range and thousands of dollars. We’re budget conscious and looking for a genuine experience, not to buy expensive items and being haggled to do so . When we showed no interest in purchasing these products the shopkeeper grew impatient and left us immediately and said good day. I was beginning to feel suspicious and felt pressured to buy things we didn’t want. Karin then asked us if there was anything in particular that we wanted to buy. My girlfriend said she was looking to buy some Moroccan shawls, nothing more. He then took us to a clothing shop and we were pressured to buy 2 overpriced scarves. The only reason we bought them was to leave the store as it was beginning to get quite annoying that we weren’t being taken to the places listed on the itinerary. We then told Karim we were hungry. By this time it had been over 2 hours since we started the tour and walking around with nothing to eat. Karim reluctantly said yes and took us to a restaurant of his choice, not ours, without being shown the menu when asked. We told him we didn’t want to eat there and wanted to find something else. This is a private tour remind you. Karim then went to the bathroom and stayed for a few minutes. We stood waiting and he came out of the bathroom and told us he could not complete the tour. We were baffled because we still hadn’t seen 3 places on the itinerary. The Jewish synagogue, the American museum, and the contemporary art museum. We were given no reason as to why he abandoned us. Shortly afterwards I called Viator who we booked the tour through and asked for a refund. Viator said they would contact Karim and ask him why he didn’t finish the tour with us. He told Viator it was because our ferry was late. This completely contradicts what he told us earlier in the morning. Viators customer service was terrible and refused to give us a refund, even though they specifically told me that they read the contradictory message. The entire time we felt pressured to buy overpriced items and we didn’t we were quickly shown the door and haggled Not to mention we weren’t taken to 3 stops on our itinerary. His friends stores were not listed on our itinerary. In hindsight it’s obvious Karim takes a commission from his friends on items his customers buy. Being the budget travelers we are, we didn’t fit his bill to make him his commissions. When he finally realized this, he abandoned us. Bottom line. If you have a bunch of money to spend on overpriced items and to be pressured, to buy them from his friend shopkeepers Karims tour is for you. The entire tour was uncomfortable and we weren’t given the full tour to the places shown on the itinerary. If I could give Karim 0 stars I would. Not to mention Viators customer service support was terrible. I’ve booked many tours with Viator. This is 0 stars for them too, I will never ever book another tour through Viator or Karim. Also, Viator wouldn’t let me post a review after I asked for the refund. This is completely unacceptable and gives the impression that Karims tours are legit.

Fun Tour with a True Local

We had a great day with Karim. He is warm, enthusiastic, and high-energy. He took us all around the old Medina, plus the Casbah (where the views were fabulous!). He provided some historical information, but the real benefit of a tour with him is his connections with everyone in town! He arranged for us to have the most delicious lunch at an authentic Moroccan restaurant, and his presence in town clearly kept sellers at a distance from us, which we greatly appreciated. One thing to be prepared for is that Karim will take you to a few shops and leave you to chat with the salespeople—clearly in the hopes that you’ll buy something. We didn’t mind that—and in fact bought a lovely Berber rug—but I know some people may feel differently. Overall, a great tour and an engaging guide!
