This was an incredible tour, and I would 100% recommend it! We booked this tour as well as a separate volcano and lake tour with another company, and this was by far our favorite experience. The other tour was pretty underwhelming, but this one exceeded all of our expectations from start to finish. Our driver, Salvador, arrived around 6:45 AM, exactly when he said he would. We were the only ones in the van, so my daughter and I were able to stretch out and nap during the two-hour drive to the waterfalls. There was a little traffic, so it took just over two hours to arrive. Since we missed our complimentary hotel breakfast, Salvador stopped at a local café for us to eat, and it ended up being one of the best breakfasts we have had during our trip. Bloom Coffee was phenomenal. I had a cold brew that I could sweeten to my liking while my daughter ordered the caramel frappuccino. We split the El Simón, which was absolutely to die for. It was an avocado toast topped with ricotta cheese, caramelized onions, and pumpkin seeds (we skipped the mushrooms). It also came with fresh slices of bananas and strawberries drizzled with honey. Everything was fresh and delicious, and they accept both cash and credit cards. When we arrived, we met up with our hiking guide, Oscar, along with another couple from Spain. From the moment we met them, both Oscar and Salvador made us feel like we were spending the day with friends rather than taking a tour. Oscar was awesome. He was hilarious, full of energy, incredibly entertaining, and had such an amazing personality. He kept everyone laughing throughout the day while also making sure we felt safe during the more challenging parts of the hike. Salvador was equally amazing. Even though he drove us, he also joined us during the hike, took countless photos for everyone, and shared wonderful recommendations for places to visit and eat around El Salvador. We actually tried one of his dinner recommendations later that evening, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Their kindness, hospitality, and genuine enthusiasm made us feel completely at home. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to visit the first waterfall because the city is currently using the water as part of a hydroelectric project to provide electricity for local residents. Honestly, it wasn’t a disappointment because there were still plenty of beautiful waterfalls to experience. The hike itself was so much fun. You’ll walk through knee-deep water, climb over rocks, and use ropes in a few sections. I was especially nervous about the rope climb, but Oscar and Salvador guided us every step of the way, helping us across and making sure everyone felt comfortable and safe. What initially seemed intimidating quickly became one of the most enjoyable parts of the adventure. The hike lasted about three hours before we stopped for lunch. We ate at Doña Goya, another fantastic local spot. You order whatever you’d like from the menu. I had the chicken, which was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The ribs were good, and we also tried two different vegetable patties, one made with squash/zucchini and another with spinach. Both were delicious. I even enjoyed a local beer with my meal. It was a fun, authentic place to eat. The drive back was relaxing, and I slept through most of it. We arrived back at our hotel around 3:30 PM. Overall, this was one of the best tours we’ve taken. Between the beautiful waterfalls, delicious local food, outstanding guides, and small-group experience, everything was thoughtfully planned and exceeded our expectations. If you’re trying to decide between tours in El Salvador, book this one. It was adventurous, authentic, and worth every penny. I would absolutely do it again.
Best experience ever ! We had so much fun. The hike is about 2.5 hours long, and that's with taking your time. Make sure to bring good runners for the hike. Salva is the best tour guide and so informative. Can't wait to go again in the future!!
So fun! Amazing hike and loves seeing all of the waterfalls
The waterfall tour was so fun, and our guide was very knowledgeable.
This hike was amazing, and I definitely recommend it! Our guide, Chamba, picked us up from our Airbnb in Surftown. (Chamba is the best! If he’s your tour guide, you’re in great hands.) He drove us up to the waterfalls and even stopped at some stores when we asked for water and Gatorade. The hike was absolutely stunning. I suggest being a bit in shape to do it. It was a little physically challenging, but if you’re a prior athlete or train, you should be perfectly fine. The rainforest was stunning. I highly recommend wearing shoes with good grip because the trail can get really slippery. I made the mistake of wearing tennis shoes, so I definitely don’t recommend that.
Everything was smooth from the beginning to the end. Chamba was our guid and we had so much fun. He is knowledgeable on history and facts and answers all of our questions. The hike to the waterfall is not as bad as some reviews expected the last 10 min where it is super steep, but jumping in the water was so refreshing! I booked two other excursions with tunco life and I’m hoping I get Chamba as a guide again, can recommend enough!

The hike was our favorite adventure in La Libertad!! The waterfalls are beautiful and our swims were very refreshing. Our guide Salva was excellent!! We really enjoyed him. His English speaking was much appreciated!! The hike is difficult for some and steep. We would highly recommend booking it!!

This tour was the perfect way to spend an afternoon! Although the hike was a bit challenging in the heat, we took lots of breaks and the swim was so refreshing. The guides were great and I had a lot of fun!
Salva was a great tour guide in El Salvador. The place he showed us was absolutely beautiful, and the waterfalls were amazing. I really enjoyed the trip and had a very good time there with my friend. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting El Salvador.
We did this tour today and it was great from start to finish. The organization was really good — we got picked up in a comfortable, air-conditioned bus, which you definitely appreciate once you realize how warm it gets out there. The hike down to the waterfall was lovely and not too strenuous. But honestly, what made the experience stand out were the guides. They were super attentive and really looked after everyone in the group — you could tell they genuinely cared, not just going through the motions. The best part? We were the first group to arrive at the waterfall, so we had it pretty much to ourselves for a bit before others started coming in. That alone was worth it. If you're in the area and looking for something fun and well-organized to do, this is definitely one to add to the list. Highly recommend! 🌊
