We met Yama at the tour agency office and stated our tour. We had already been at Takayama for a few days but Yama introduced us to food that we would not have tried in our own - one example for a chestnut mochi and the soft rice cake. Come with an empty stomach.

I found Yama on Tripadvisor and booked the food tour for 15 pax. We were a big group with age range from 8-77. Yama-san took good care of us! We enjoyed beef sushi, assorted buns, rice sticks, apples and sake! He adjusted to our pace and gave good suggestions. Highly recommended when in Takayama!

My family & I enjoyed the local food recommended by Yama-san especially Hida Beef Skewers. Yama-san also explained to us the history along Takayama streets as we passed. Highly recommended private tour with reasonable price but excellent service.
