If you are looking for an engaging and authentic experience then Rabab is your plug. She is friendly, warm and bubbly. She works with the local ladies and also supports a children's charity. Our hotel pick up was super efficient and after a short drive we arrived up in the mountains to her beautiful workshop. We were taught how to make authentic green tea with variety of herbs and served with sweet treats. We made bread from scratch as well as some Amlou (almond, peanut spread with honey). We marinated our meat and even the veg prep for the tajine was a collaborative fun activity. The flavours of the final dish were better than I had eaten anywhere! Anyhoo, this was an epic experience. Book now, its so worth it!
Truly an amazing experience. Having an afternoon with Rabab and these incredible woman was an experience to remember. It was not rushed. It was authentic and warm and natural. I learned so much from them about their lives and customs and shared things from our culture. First we shared green tea with mint and sugar and freshly baked goods made by the ladies that morning. Then We made bread, prepared the tangine and made spread with almond, peanuts and honey. After all that we sat down and shared a meal together. Rabab speaks 6 languages and speaks amazing English. The other ladies did not speak English but it didn’t matter. They were warm and welcoming and Rabab translated when necessary. I would whole heartedly recommend this experience. The most authentic thing we did in Morocco!
This meeting, this sharing of cuisine, Moroccan traditions, culture, history of the country, was an incredible moment. We had the impression to cook with family, what happiness, we feasted. Thank you Rabab for everything, and we wish you all the best for the future
This was a great cooking class. You are taken to a village in the hills. There is plenty of food and the people are kind. The only thing I would say was that our group felt too big. A smaller group would be better for this experience. Definitely recommend!
I rarely (not to say never) write reviews but here the experience was just perfect. We went for a cooking class, we can back with way more than that. Rabab felt us welcome, she explained us the context, the history and the importance of her culture and her cooking. Within minutes, we felt like home and talking about a millions things other then cooking. But to reassure, the cooking itself was extremely satisfying and authentic. 20/20.
Rabab collected us from the Mosque in Taghazout and we were driven for 15 minutes into a small Berber village in the hills. Rabab and her helpers welcomed us with a traditional Moroccan tea making ritual and homemade cakes. Then we went to a separate rustic area where we prepared a fish and a chicken tagine - chopping the vegetables, infusing the meat/fish with spices and then placing in the tagine for cooking. While the tagine cooked we made local bread from flour, semolina, yeast, and water. After lots of mixing and kneeding the dough, we then each baked our bread in the Berber oven. When ready we ate the bread and tagine. Rabab and her helpers were very friendly and engaging. An excellent experience. The only improvement would be the provision of bottled water which had been advertised.
Thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the cooking the bread making and the warm Berber welcome with me and my team Your suggestion about bottled water is very helpful I will make sure this is improved for future guests i truly appreciate your kind words and hope to welcome you again soon
From the moment we arrived in the village, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. Rabab shared her deep knowledge of authentic, traditional Berber cooking, guiding us step-by-step through recipes that have been passed down for generations. The setting itself is magical — cooking in the heart of a Berber village, surrounded by beautiful mountain views and the aroma of fresh herbs and spices. Everything was hands-on, from preparing the vegetables to learning the perfect balance of flavors. It’s not just a cooking class, it’s a real cultural immersion — a chance to connect with local traditions, taste authentic dishes, and experience the joy of sharing a meal prepared with love. I left with a happy heart, a full stomach, and new skills I’ll treasure forever. Highly recommended for anyone who wants more than just a meal — this is the true taste of Morocco!
It is hard to put into words how amazing this experience is - this is an absolute must-do if you are visiting Taghazout. Rabab is amazing. She is passionate, attentive and takes so much care in guiding you through preparing the most delicious food including tagine, bread and moroccan salad. The experience of sharing the afternoon with Rabab and the helping berber ladies in a berber home, preparing and cooking the food outdoors with open flames and sharing the meal together afterwards was the most beautiful and authentic experience I have ever had. We felt so welcomed into the home and left feeling part of the family! The memories of this experience will stay with me forever and I am so grateful to Rabab for her hospitality and knowledge. We have already planned to cook tagine for our friends on our return home! I could not recommend this experience more highly if you are looking for an authentic, immersive, intimate and memorable activity. Thank you so much Rabab!
This unique cooking trip in the heart of a traditional Moroccan family home was amazing! Really great to learn about the lifestyle and culture of the people, history of the buildings, Whaley drinking traditional mint tea with sweet selection of home made biscuits. Then came the highlight of the afternoon - making fresh breads cooking on a wood fired clay oven before preparing all of the lovely fresh ingredients and spices and cooking in a tagine over the hot coals from the wood fire. It was a long and very hot day, I’d assumed from previous trip advisor photos that it would be in a hotel, however this was a true authentic experience, driven up into the hillside to find an outside camp style kitchen in a family home! Bring everything you might need with you, suncream, drinks and hand sanitizer! It will feel welcoming, but dusty and 100% authentic! I feel very lucky to have had this experience:)
Very good time with Rabab! We learned to make two tagines with my father. It was an amazing experience. We look forward to coming back to make a new recipe. Enriching encounter both on a human and cultural level.
